Spring swap 2010

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

the time has come to set a date for a spring swap - I'm thinking May 15th or 22nd at my place - I have access to a tent, and chairs - we have the end of my street for set up, somewhat lacking in parking - but, that can be worked around - please give me some input on the dates and then we can collectively agree on which weekend would be best :)

EIther weekend works well for me.
Thanks
Marlene

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Me too (either date)! It worked really well with the tent last time, Becky... hopefully we'll have cooperative weather again. Do you think we could order up a day like today? It's gorgeous out there!

Thanks, Becky!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Excellent - I'll finalize the date as soon as we have some more input here, then I'll have a month or so to organize, and of course 'volunteer' Chantell into helping! I'll start a couple of threads once we have a set date, for food, have/wants etc

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

OK, I just checked the "happenings thread" and May 15th is the date for "Spring Day" in Alexandria - so I', leaning towards making May 22nd the date....

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Sounds like fun but as usual I won't be able to make it - I'll be at "Spring Day" so hopefully I'll see you there and the 22nd is the first weekend of our Open House :( ONE of these years I'll make it or we'll just have to plan a get together here! :)

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Beck, The 15th works for us, but we are regretfully, hosting our daughters 40th birthday party on the22nd. The regrets are:she is 40,(makes us old), and we may not be able to attend, not that we are hosting her party. We may get together a "have" list and send plants with someone if you go with the 22nd.
The last time we hosted her birthday, she was 25, there were over 150 people through out the day. They consumed 60#s of meat, 3 kegs of beer, a couple of cases of liquor, and went well into the next morning (can you say Mardi Gras). We woke up to tent city in the backyard, many were smart and stayed. I hoping for a more sedate crowd this time. LOL Ric

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

I am kinda leaning towards the 22nd, but I am flexible.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Would the following weekend, May 29th work better for everyone?

Ric, I say we just scratch a plant swap and crash your party instead!

Deb, Chantell and I will be at Green Springs the 15th - would you be able to make it the following weekend, the 29th?

I have 'volunteered' Chantell and even my hubby will be around for this one :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I think we're clear on May 29.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I believe Roses_R_Red is having a Plant Swap the Saturday after Memorial Day in Mt. Bethel, PA?
This has been in the works since the Seed Swap in Frederick.

I believe several people from this are were aiming to attend that one.
Two Swaps within a week's time?????? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? Nothing really wrong with that--is there?

We'll have to see......Gita

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh, I looked at the thread and didn't see a mention of that :-(

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I think as long as they're not on the same weekend, we should be OK... and there are a lot of folks (most, I'd think) who can't make it to both, due to distance.

I thought I had the date for the PA swap on the Events thread... will check

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

The 22 nd is no go for me.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

So, leaning more and more towards the 29th then...Sally, I can't have a swap without you! ^_^

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Quoting:
Deb, Chantell and I will be at Green Springs the 15th - would you be able to make it the following weekend, the 29th?

Nope, doesn't work either - we're having our Open House two weekends this year and that's the second weekend :( Don't worry about trying to schedule it so I can make it - I will one of these years but after the first of June I'll be busy trying to pull everything together so I can leave for Maine later in the month.

LOL, I think if I wasn't busy on the 22nd I'd have to crash the birthday party too - sounds like fun!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

awwww, Becky! By the way the Shasta daisy you gave me last year is huge already! great plant!

My Shasta is gone, gone! Freaking thing was taking over, so I made the terrible decision to 'get 'er gone' - there might still be some coming up and that's fine - anyway, back on track - I'm pretty much leaning towards the 29th....

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Could someone please show me how to get to the "events" area?
Thanks Much,
Marlene

Marlene - here's the thread - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1061079/

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

The 29th would work for us. :+} It is Memorial Day Weekend so I don't know if that would make a difference to many people. We were planing to do both Swaps if they fit into our schedule and having them close together wouldn't matter, might even be easier.
Bec come on up to the party and bring friends. LOL

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Waaaaawhooooooo.....can't wait to see everyone!!!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I sure hope I can make this one... I am really going to try! It would be so nice to see everyone again!!!

Crozet, VA

Okay, so has the date been set in stone yet? No activity here for a bit. I was really going to be disappointed about attending a swap and not being able to see Holly and Sally too. Two of the sweeties who were in attendance at the first swap I attended when it was held at Hart's some years back. Seems like a million years ago.

I really want to attend this whenever it is because the swaps are definetly something that are highlights of our gardening season. I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather even though a few of the days temperatures have been ungodly.

Talk to you folks soon I hope.

Ruby

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Hey Ruby it is so good to see you post. Those daylilies I got from you and John are just spreading out so nicely in the new bed. I'm sure I will have beautiful flowers this summer.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Even though it's Memorial Day weekend I've decided to do this on May 29th - I'm hoping as many as possible can make it - I'll start a couple of threads for food, swap & chat ^_^

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

We can come Bec. I put it on the calendar.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

We have never had anything special going on Mem Day wkend so for us this is special!!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Excellent! I've volunteered' Chantell and hubby to help :)

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I'll do everything I can to make it, Bec. I hadn't planned on doing anything this spring but I'd sure like to see everyone.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Hart it would be so nice to see you in person.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I've got it on my calendar!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

My brain is struggling to remember what it is that I had to go/do/attend/ etc...on May 27th?????
Whatever it is--I think it was important. Another booked weekend---Oh, well!

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

I have it on my calendar too. Sallyg, can I hitch a ride with you again?

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Robin, glad you are coming!

Gita, and Catbird Robin--sure we will work something out. With the extra plant material, and my hubby, we may need two vehicles driving together.

I have asked for the day off, it should be fine

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sally,,
Since you drove last time--WHERE--in relation to you--does Bec live? How much further?

I don't mind driving as a second car......Catbird--you are welcome to drive up/down with me......I just am not sure where Bec lives .....

Gita
