Lin, Nice shots of the Red-bellied Woodpecker and Downy!

Rose, That Red-winged Blackbird is very handsome!

Duc, The Brewers Blackbirds are a nice looking bird. Love the Pelican and Tree Swallow shots!

Melbourne, FL

Here is a Painted Bunting from this morning , Lin. I still have these and Indigos, but not for long. I only see the Buntings here during fall, winter and spring. They move further North for the summers. Super shots, everyone.

To all my birding friends. I thought I've hit the jackpot this morning ...(though I'm not a person to gamble -- lol).

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I couldn't believe my eyes for I was wishing real hard to see these -- almost mysteriously beautiful birds (to me), and here they were, while I was in town to run an arrand. By the naked eyes I wasn't able to discern what they were. But when I saw the number of birds. I thought to myself. Migratory birds!....where is the camera? Luckily I had forgotten my camera in the car from my Eagle sighting trip. Viola! One the pics. were made, I zoomed in and I couldn't believe my luck. Haa, maybe I need to go and play bingo now? LOL

Oooops, that was early this morning. The excitement lingered; I forgot to mention those are Cedar Waxwings. ^_^

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Duc, I wish I can see those Tree Swallows next. (Pressing my lucks!). Grins~

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

GP, that bunting is absolutely gorgeous.

Lily, I could tell you got as excited as I do every year when the first of the waxwings arrives here in the late fall. Enjoy them, they are beauties. You should be able to see some kinds of swallows there.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Duc and GP...gosh your pics are just breathtaking! Absolutely love that Painted Bunting and those Swallows are over the top!

Lily...Beautiful shot of the Waxwings...I almost pass out when I see them, they are such a gorgeous bird.

The Barn Swallows have returned to our area although I don't know if "ours" have arrived. I hope they will build their nests in our barn again this year...I am really getting excited!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Duc, and Rose for sharing my excitement about the Cedar Waxwings. Back at home my Red Bellied Woodpecker is equally entertaining. She huffs and she puffs (enjoys the rare sun shine) before she came to feed.

Great photos everyone!!

gardenpom I love the Painted Bunting, we don't get them here but we do get the Lazuli Bunting in the summer. I have a few not too good pics of him, hopefully I'll get better ones this year.

Lily that's great you got to see your Waxwings. I could probably fill a whole thread myself with Bohemian Waxwing pics;-) I will have to post a few.

Marlton, NJ

Beautiful girl Lily!!

My gosh I can't believe the way this thread has flown by!!

Grasmussen will be starting the next thread.

dellrose: We get a lot of common type birds here but I love em all! Your photo of the Red-winged Blackbird is great. We've seen a lot of them this winter, especially males. There are still a couple hanging around and I just love their singing.

duc: Wow, that Brewer's Blackbird is really pretty, especially the female! Love to see the pictures of birds singing their hearts out! Great photo's of the White Pelican! And, I really like the looks of the Barn Swallows, don't see those around these parts.

gardenpom: That's a really great shot of the male Painted Bunting, really has beautiful colors, doesn't he?

Lily: Love your picture of the tree full of Cedar Waxwings! I thought they had all left our area but I saw four land in a tree this afternoon, then took off as fast as they arrived! Lovely Red-bellied you have there too! It's sure fun to watch them.

I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon and forgot to take my camera. I was hoping to take some more pic's of the Osprey family in residence atop the light poles in the parking lot. Oh well, maybe next trip I will remember. Only pic's I have to share are ones I took this afternoon of our local's.

This is our resident Northern Mockingbird with a broken beak. He/she has been hanging around for a few months now. I was concerned with the broken beak that he/she wouldn't survive but yep, still here ... singing prettily every day.

Duc...love the yawning Swallow!

Lily....so glad you saw them!! I remember when I saw my first one just a couple years ago!! I always saw the photos and think how cool...never knew we had the here in Indiana! LOL I was hearing them whistling today on my walk. It is such a happy sound.

Plantlady...you sure have a busy yard!

All the birds are going to be unhappy when I stop the peanuts for the summer. Including the White-breasted Nuthatch!

Today has been an exceptionally good birding day for me. I started the day out with the Cedar Waxwings, and closed the day by watching this Bald Eagle preening under the mild temp. sunny day. What can one ask for more in one day?

Eagle perching by the nest. In previous trips we (hubby and I) saw a mature one and a Juvie. Today we spotted two adults!

I sure enjoyed seeing all the nice photos.

I took the 40D and Bigmos out today and here's some of what I got.

The light was fading fast, but this Carolina Chickadee tempted me.

ducbucln - Quote, "Hack, cute photos. That robin sure looks pretty. You must have lots of worms for them to hunt. Beautiful warbler. Great job with the composite." My yard has been dry in 2 months, I'll bet there are lots of worms.

dellrose - Quote, "Hack..nice shots, I still haven't seen any Warblers...still looking though. You really get the birds in your area and I think it is great that you have become a bird watcher!" I never knew it was so much fun to watch and photograph birds. AND that pic of the red-wing Blackbird sure showed of the red wing. All mine are gone.

pelletory - Quote, "Nice pics Hack! Love the Warbler!" Thanks pelle. I didn't see one today, though.

gardenpom - the painted Bunting is nice, but I think I liked the male Cardinal better. AND I also like that Grackle on the blue bowl. AND your Blue Jay series was wonderful.

plantladylin - its nice to see you back. Nice shot of the Robin, too. AND that's a nice shot of a Catbird.

reddirtretiree - that Lark Sparrow is really something. But what does FOY mean? Never mind linth told me.

Lily_love - You're so lucky to have a Baltimore Oriole hanging around.

nanny_56 - I haven't seen a Dark-eyed Junco in a while. Nice shots. AND your female Red-bellied Woodpecker is pretty.

linthicum - That is a great shot of an Eastern Towhee and thinks for answering my problem of what FOY meant - even before you knew I asked it.

And some of you all outdid yourselves with the addition of so many other photos, WOW, it was a pleasure to see them.

Hack.

Finally getting a chance to catch up on viewing everyone's pic's. The hard drive on my lap top crashed last night so I've been off-line all day today!

Nanny: That Nuthatch going after the peanut is really cute! Love the pair of Jays too. I've seen a few large crows around lately ... hope they don't stay long!

Lily: You are so fortunate to be able to see those beautiful Eagles! Thanks for sharing.

Hack: The Carolina Chickadee is so cute. I'm still seeing lots of Chipping Sparrows, I'm wondering if they will hang around through summer. That pic of the male Cowbird with his mouth full is adorable! And, the pic's of the female Cardinal's are really wonderful! I don't see house finches at all and I love your photo of that male house finch ... he almost looks as if someone spilled red paint on him!

Great job everyone! Now I'm off to the new thread!
