Hello--
I am a pretty novice gardener (brand new to peppers), and decided to start some Caribbean Red, Datil, Takanotsume, and Fatalii peppers from seed. They are about 3 weeks old, and although most of them look healthy, there are a few that have begun to turn yellow after their first true leaves appeared. They are in peat pellets and were initially under a 125 watt incandescent agro-lite for the first week after planting (for heat), but I have since changed over to two 26 watt daylight (6500k color temp) CFLs, suspended about 2 inches above the plant foliage. I read that this problem generally has to do with watering (over-watering, chlorine, poor drainage, etc.), so I began letting the peat dry out pretty much completely between waterings, and also using a distilled water solution (1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide/1 quart distilled water). Hopefully, this will correct the problem, but I just wanted the opinion of a more experienced gardener. I have also included a picture of the affected seedlings. Thanks for any and all help/suggestions!!!

Pepper Seedlings are turning yellow!
Get them into good soil and fertilize them.
They'll be getting transplanted tonight into miracle-gro orchid mix and getting a half-strength fish emulsion feeding. Thanks Metrosideros!
Why are you using an orchid mix instead of regular potting soil?
I found it on sale and read it would work, should I not use it?
Orchid mix is made with tree bark, stones, perlite and charcoal. No real value for peppers.Spend a buck and use potting soil.Give your peppers a fighting chance. You are right about heat, peppers love heat and light.Easy on the watering.Good luck,Edge
Peppers need a soil based potting mix. They do well in soil enriched with compost or manure.
OK, they are getting just plain ol' Miracle Gro potting soil and fish emulsions. Hopefully this will perk up the unhappy ones. Thanks!
Well, they survived their big move and only a day later are already starting to "green" back up at the base and tips of the leaves!
wow wow wow dont put them in fertilizer period its to much seedling put them in gardening soil water twice a day and make sure that they get SUN light
oh nvm
A little update: The transplants worked great, and none of the seedlings ended up dying off (there was one casualty during transplanting though lol). Anyway, all of the yellowing seedlings are either completely green now or have very faint traces around the edges of the yellow. I included a picture of the three that were the worst. Thanks again for the help!
