I live in zone 7A and believe I have Saint Augustine grass. I wanted to know about applying a weed control / fertilizer mix to St Augustine, is it necessary? I have read that I need to cut the grass at about 2 1/2 inches just before it starts to green up with a fresh sharp mower blade to remove dead ends. Is there any other suggestions you all have to help me get my lawn off to a good start this year?
We live in an older neighborhood with lots of mature oaks so I only get filtered light on most of the lawn.
thanks Nick
St Augustine grass
Nick: Check out this info from Clemson Ext. I would also check with your local extension office. St. Augustine is beautiful grass so get all the information you can.

wow, THANK YOU! I have got to get it through my thick skull that Clemson is the source of info when it comes to Agriculture questions. We only moved to SC about 5 months ago and where we lived last (North Georgia) the county extension office was horrible. Thanks again for your help with this, Nick
