My daughter lives in S.C. and she wants to plant some butter cups in a flower bed next to her walk way and she is new at planting flowers and when she ask about butter cups they tried to sell her something else , what I want to know is ,can you buy a seed for butter cups or bulbs for then ,
butter cups
"butter cups" is a common name which refers to many many species, if you can describe the plant your looking for someone could probably give you a better name to ask for it by. Good luck!
In my little part of Virginia, or at least in my family, a "buttercup" is the little waxy, yellow flower that pops up in the yard, four petaled bloom, and you snatch a bloom, hold it under someone's chin to see if they stole some of momma's butter. Supposedly by seeing a "yellowish glow" on said chin. I was always dubious of this method of detection of "butter-theft", even as a child. Sugar cube snatchery maybe, but butter-theft, I don't think so.
That being said, peeps around here will often refer to daffodils as "buttercups".
Is this what you daughter is looking for?
