These little fellas seem very familiar?. Found 3 or 4 today in same spot. Guess they're gonna wake up soon and want some breakfast. Which of my plants are they going to eat.... or is it all of them. I haven' checked idents but I'm thinking they might be a type of cutworm... bless'em.
Any thoughts appreciated
Lepidopteran larvae
I think you have tw0 different critters there- a cutworm & a grub- they both will eat everything! Get rid of em!
Thanks yeah! you're right.
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
Both of the specimens are caterpillars of moths in the family Noctuidae. The one on the left looks much like the larva of the large yellow underwing, Noctua pronuba, a common garden pest in Britain (it also occurs in North America) - see http://tinyurl.com/yh2t36h for an example. The image of the other one is too washed out to see any diagnostic specific characters.
Many thanks for that. If they're still there, I'm gonna have to see to them.
