did i start vegetable seeds inside to early

i planted onions carrots corn bell pepper hot pepper green beans cucumber tomato radish inside on march 5th 2010 did i do this to early please someone help me i live in kenton ohio

It depends on what your planting zone is. If you don't know, you can call your local county extension agent., look it up on Victory seeds website or on the back of some seed packages. Radishes and carrots are always direct seeded. Beans and cucombers are usually direct seeded after the last frost and when the soil is warm. but can be started indoors 2 or 3 weeks before planting out. You are probably o.k. with your peppers and tomatoes. Peppers are usually started indoors about 8 weeks before your last frost date, and tomatoes 6 to 8 weeks. Carrots take FOREVER to come up, so don't think you did something wrong. You will probably need to reseed your carrots outside, 'cause they definitely might not take well to being disturbed...

Radishes can sprout rapidly and grow spindly indoors unless they have GREAT grow lighting. But yeah, basically root crops should just be sown directly outdoors. Though, I am currently growing 3 types of radishes indoors in a deep flower box in a bathroom under CFL lighting. Not doing too bad. I am doing this because I want to experiment with what edible crops can be successfully grown indoors and with low or no power requirements.
