For 30 years, we lived in zone 10 where I could put stuff in the ground and it was there forever. Now we're in zone 8. Last summer I planted an annual flower garden and when they died in the fall, I replaced them with pansies. Now the pansies are still alive but I want to put in seeds in the same place for the flower garden. What do I do?! Do I put in seeds around the rows of pansies? Or do I have to toss them? Thanks in advance for any advice.
What do I do with my pansies?
You can seed around your pansies. They will start to die back from the heat in a few weeks, just about the time your seedlings are gaining some size. When I have other things growing with annuals that need to be removed, rather than pull up the dying annuals, I just cut them off at ground level....does not disturb the new plants, and the old roots add a bit of amendment to the soil.
