Hack, you miss half a day here and it can take 2 days to catch up.
Good shots, liked the Brown Thrasher and Yellow-rumped warbler a lot.

Sandusky, OH

Great shots everyone!! I think the threads will go even faster once the spring bird's start coming in drove's. :)

Oh good I got the Turnstone right; how far around the globe are they Resin?

Almost all of it! They breed round most of the Arctic, and winter south to southern South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The only coast which doesn't get them is Antarctica.

Thanks for the new thread Knip...and also for the shot of your Robin! I love those little birds and they remind me very much of our Bluebirds.

Nice shots on this thread, it's great to see everyone posting. Spring migration should be bringing lots of new birds for all of us and I'm getting excited about it. I'm sure Nanny will have tons more Warblers again this year...well, she is the Queen!

Lily...Nice to see those birds from Hawaii and glad you had a great time there, it is a wonderful place and I would love to live there. I've been there a few times but was not a birder and sadly can't remember seeing any birds...pathetic I know.

Chilly weather has returned and so have the Grackles and Cowbirds!

Got this shot of one of the male Cardinals with a deformed beak...there are 2 in the area and both seem to be doing very well.

Eagle Watching in Legro Indiana

Marlton, NJ

Thanks Resin, that is very interesting.

Wonderful pics Rose! I am just the opposite with Goldfinch right now, rarely see them.

Hugger, Very nice shot!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I may have to search out Legro Indiana. We have some that stay out here year round where I live and around Greencastle. Have seen them in flight. But I want a photo!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Hack and Rose. Rose the timing was just right for me to have rediscover nature's beauties and appreciation of wildlife. Have I missed out so much in my younger years, I dare say I've much to make up.

Huggergirl, congrats on spotting the Eagle. DH and I were tipped off of an Eagle's nest nearby our area. We went and saw it yesterday. Pic. is blurry at best. But I did get to see the Eagle was busy -- working on building its nest--fascinating sight!

Thanks Pelle and Resin for helping me continuing to identify those tropical birds. Upon returning home. I was delighted to have heard these birds calling, flitting about. A whole family of them. MargaretK, this one is for you. The Redheaded Woodpecker.

Mcash, I think starlings are pretty birds. Love that second photo with the open mouth telling the other one to go away.

Lily, adorable finches!

Hack, love that closeup of the Brown Thrasher! Great shots, love the E. Towhees.

Rose, love the shot of all the grackles and cowbirds! Gosh, that cardinal is gorgeous!

Hugger, glad you are seeing an eagle, they're so beautiful.

This female Brewers Blackbird posed nicely for me while waiting her turn at the peanuts.

The California Quail are so such fast birds. Caught this one when he stopped to see where the others were.

Here at home I'm thrilled to have found my one and only 'snow bird' still hang around on my back yard. The lovely Baltimore Oriole. Just as I was typing, I snapped a pic. of a Northern Flicker. That has made my morning! Boys, I didn't realize how big those flickers could be!

Lily...you can just send the Redhead and Orioles to my place, you have had them long enough! How many of the Redheads did you have in the tree? Lucky you to see the Eagles working on the nest.

Duc...every time I see your pics I have camera envy...all gorgeous shots and that Quail is super.

I can't believe it...we might have snow tonight!! It was over 70 degrees a few days ago...grrrrr....

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Hope that oriole is coming my way in just a few weeks! I am also anxious to hear the towhees start calling for this year.

Had the first Eastern Phoebe of the year this morning!! Hardly had time to get a couple of bad pics and it was gone.

Really wonderful shots everyone!!

Dellrose...it's 29F degrees, windy and it's been snowing here all morning...SIGH!!!:o(

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ah, those adorable Phoebes! Last spring I had one family over my garage overhang....I hope they will return here too. I did see some flitting about. I love to see them even from a distance. Their unmistakeable flipping of the tail behavior.

South Hamilton, MA

Goldfinches seem to have disappeared from here the last 2 yrs. Anyone with ideas why?

That's a pretty Robin Meth.

irisMA I think the Goldfinches came here;-) All winter we had good size flocks at the feeders along with the Redpolls, usually we would have just a few.

Marlton, NJ

I can't believe I just wrote out a long reply and somehow I zapped it off. Anyway...

Lily, I love the Red-headed Woodpecker and congrats that the Oriole is still there!

Duc, The female Brewers Blackbird has such a soft beauty! Love the Eagle and gorgeous male California Quail.

Nanny, Congrats on seeing the Phoebe!

Met, Pretty Robin!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Pelle, here I've a pair of Mallards spending some 'quality time' together. :)

Flying the Pacific flyway now? Nasty of those finches.

Melbourne, FL

That Bald Eagle is gorgeous. I got this pic in the car, thru a windshield with the wipers running in the rain while waiting at a stoplight. Terrible pic from my compact camera....but right across from the light is a tall tree with a nest of Great Blue Herons.

Would love to see a heron nest!

Double Carolina Chickadees... a squirrel broke this feeder today darn it! Chewed thru the cord and it fell and broke all to pieces....that is like the 6th feeder I have had broken in the last 6 months.

Thumbnail by nanny_56
Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh wow, Nan, I haven't been successful at luring Mockingbirds and Blue Jays to the feeders. Arggg the squiggy! I learned a while back not to use anything but metal wires to avoid that chewing problem. Spreaking of wires....hope they won't get to these type of wires. Here is another one of my many Redheaded Woodpeckers.

Boys! That pic. (after I've enlarged to see the details) is inviting a caption real bad. Have a I a volunteer? I need a volunteer who knows to make caption to borrow my pic. above for a good giggle-inducing caption on "It's the Birds' World" thread.
