irisMA I would like that too, I've only seen a couple in the past several years.
Daily Pics Vol 296
Met...beautiful ducks. I need to find some place where the photo ops are good for ducks.
Mcash..Just love that Yellow-headed Blackbird too...and the ravens are cool too!
Oh...just saw a group of deer (4-5)go thru thr woods acroos the road!
ANYWAY....The female Downy Woodpeckers seem to be out numbering the males here. I have seen as many as 4 females at the same time int the yard to 1 male.
This is leading to some squabbling now that spring is in the air!
Thanks nanny! You have some nice shots too, the Cardinal is beautiful.
Hi everyone, I was away a week from our daily threads, I'll have much to catch up. I've a few tropical birds pics. from my vacation to share after I've their I.D. confirmation from ourmany friends here such as Pelle, Resin, Burd. But first I like to say; Thank you Sue for the new Thread. And yes, your Robin looks much different from what I normally see here. It's a charmer however.
Gardenpom, I like your Blue Jay (a subject I've yet successfully photographed), and your various woodpeckers are lovely. I especially like the one with the Redbellied and Downy Woodpeckers together.
Nan, your Nuthatch is a cutie-pie! lol, I'm glad mine are still here all through winter, I love their acrobatic "dances" in the backyard.
Duc, I guess we don't have Scrub Jays here. I know we've some Swallows but haven't got their pics. either here. Our Eastern Towhees are different than your Ca. Towhee I assumed? And the Spotted Towhee, whew! I've so much to learn! Thanks for the pics. They're lovely as usual.
Methodical your male Canvasback is interesting.
mcash. Good for the Junco escaping the Hawk's eyes. The Yellow Headed Black Bird is stunning!
Here I've a Japanish-White Eyes on Palm's fruits (nuts). At first I thought it was a Warbler of some sort 'til I saw the White rings on its eyes! It's about the size of a Yellow crowned Warbler at home.
Love the Downys nanny! Nice pics!
Lily, That Japanese White Eye is so pretty!
Ah thanks Pelle, sorry for the typo above. Thanks.
OK, this might be the coolest bird thread yet! Super cool start Knip!
WOW Lily, you spotted some cool birds and took amazing photos. I love that White Eyes.
Duc, I have new appreciation for your swallow pics. Saw some today and didn't get a single picture, too fast!
Mcash, saw a Sharp-shinned yesterday and didn't get any pics, so really loved seeing your crystal clear ones!
GP, that's the best pic of a Downy that I've ever seen.
Love everyone's bluebirds!
Methodical, WOW! Really stunning.
Tried to take the dogs for a walk before it got too hot, but didn't quite make it. Sun came out and temps were in the mid 70's fast. Spring is definitely here. There were even some bluebonnets blooming. Here's a Loggerhead Shrike.
Thanks Elphaba, love that Loggerhead Shrike. I am so excited; spring is in the air!
Lily_love thank you, I'll probably spend the rest of the spring chasing the hawks away from the feeders and your birds are lovely, especially the Japanese White Eye.
Elphaba nice capture of the Loggerhead Shrike.
Lily your bird is so cute...and soooo tiny!
Nice shrike Elphaba...another one that I see on wires along the way when I head in to town but never can get a pic.

Met, spectacular photos of the canvasback!
Mcash, great photo of the raven! Love the yellow-headed too. I'm so anxious to see these back on our lake. I think this bird is the hardest to photograph because they're always in the deep marshes.
Nanny, cute wps and grackle!! Love the upside down nuthatch and the cardinal is beautiful.
Lily, welcome home. Hawaii huh? Guess I don't have to ask if you enjoyed yourself. Glad you were able to bring us back some photos. Love that little white eye. That red-crested cardinal reminds me of half cardinal and half jay! Interesting bird. Great ones of the sandpiper and unknown bird too! I'm sure you enjoyed seeing all the new birds-lucky you!!
Elphaba, great photo of the shrike.
Here's a pair of Crows which rarely leave the trees around our house.
Water Can, adorable titmice.
Thanks ducbucln, I'm lucky that the Yellow-headed stop here for awhile before they head off to the marsh, although a few come to the feeders on and off all summer.
I really like your crows. Nice shot of the Tree Swallows, I can hardly wait to see them around my yard checking out the nest boxes, and that oak titmouse is so cute!
Oh, mc. I meant to say. Was it raining there when those pics. were taken? Your Starlings' feather looks like pokepines needles. lol.
No Lily it was bloody cold, windy, a little snow, no wonder their feathers looked that way, if I had feathers they would look the same!!
Great shot of the Tree Swallows Duc!
So many great pics since earlier today!
Elphaba, Love the Shrike
WC, Sweet little Titmice!
Duc, Love all your birds, especially the Swallows!
LOL Margaret, I know that scene well! Good pics!
Lily, That first bird reminds me a lot of a Ruddy Turnstone but that is just a complete guess. The other pic is Java and House Finch (boy those things get around don't they?)
I should'a know this would happen - I've been away fromthe computer for only a few days and you birders have covered me up. Man, oh man, lots of great pics.

mcash70 - sweet capture of the Sharp-shinned hawk.
Methodical - I liked the series of the Male Canvasback - the last pic best of all.
mcash70 - fantastic shot of the Yellow-headed Blackbird photo from last spring - love it.
Lily_love - You went to Hawaii?, Lucky you! That 2nd pic of the Japanese-White Eyes really shows the white eyes, nice. And that Red crested Cardinal is really pretty.
Elphaba - your Loggerhead Shrike is the first I've ever seen. Cool.
WaterCan2 - nice shot of the two of Titmice. The rain doesn't slow mine down, either.
