This young Anna's Hummingbird had me laughing this morning while watching it try to drink the nectar in the feeder. It's apparently been working on or building a nest and had a few feathers stuck in its mouth. The bird got frustrated because it couldn't get the feathers to fall so it flew over to the wire on our deck railing and tried rubbing the beak on the wire. It still didn't succeed and after a few clicks of the camera, it finally gave up and flew off.
A few moments later the bird did return to the feeder, feather free, and was able to finally get a good drink. These birds sure can brighten any gloomy, rainy day for me!

Wonderful shots Duc! Glad she was able to get that off her.

Thanks for the new thread and the great pics of a bird dilemma.

Beautiful pictures Duc! I love seeing the back color too.
Exquisite, duc.
Lovely photos ducbucln!!
both nice ones duc!
He's a beauty Adel. I can't believe these birds are so late coming here this year. So happy to hear they're at your house anyway. If you happen to hear a loud yelling some day soon, it's just me finally seeing one here.LOL
You west-coasters are so lucky to have Hummers so early in the year (compared to the rest of us)!! Nice shots all!
I'm still waiting, too, and they are at least a week overdue now. The flowering quince is all ready and waiting for them, too.
Nice one adel!
He is gorgeous duc!
Congrats! He's a cutie.
Congratulations, Duc! I got a fleeting glance at my first hummer this afternoon. So fleeting that I couldn't even ID him. Hopefully he will return this evening. It cetainly is about time isn't it?
we become slaves to these beautiful wonderous little birds!
Very nice ones adel!!
Great pictures Adel. Glad you have so many. My Anna's are still playing nice and sharing the feeder one at a time. I notice they're mostly spending time at a large honeysuckle shrub across the street, then rushing on to our house to drink more, then returning to the shrub. I'll have to get this shrub identified because they sure love it.
Great shots duc! That is a beautiful shrub!
