I love the red eyes on the Spotted Towhees.
Daily Pics Vol. 295
Beautiful pics everyone. Love those bluebird pics. I would really like to see one. Hack, nice selection! Nanny, cool pileated. Wish I could get them to come to my feeders. Duc, really cool swallow pics and I see that while I was typing this you posted some more wonderful pictures. Wow!
I finally got myself organized and put my favorite 20+ Brazos Bend bird pics from the other day on a thread. Hope you'll stop by for a visit! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1079895/
I think this is a White-faced Ibis.
Nice photos from everyone! It is starting to warm up here. We some 40's last week and we supposed to have the 50's but with rain all this coming week. I am so ready...it has been nice to work out in the yard some the last few days.
I am hoping to get another pole with raccoon baffle put up and then I can leave the oriole feeder and fruit out all the time for them and not have the squirrles eat all the grapes!
Another Robin in the yard yesterday!
Red, Rose is correct the bird on your feeder is a Chipping Sparrow. The Tree Sparrow has a rufous line through the eye (not black). Chipping is still a nice one to have!
Nanny, Good to see the Pileated Woodpecker!
Sacar, Your Bluebird is so handsome!
Duc, Love the Thrasher, Thrush and Spotted Towhee!
Hi Margaret, I have a lot of Starling here too.
Nice last shots nanny!
Oh bsharf what great shots! I love seeing the Great Egret in breeding plumage and the Ibis is lovely!!!
Good one of the Grackle too!
Sac...what a handsome Bluebird! Duc...love those shots especially the Thrush and Towhee...excellent! Elphaba...I sure enjoyed the pics of your trip to Brazos Bend. Mcash...hope it warms up for you, we are finally experiencing some nice spring weather. I don't think the cold will deter that Starling!! Nice shots Nanny...good luck on getting a new baffle set up. Are you as anxious as I am for the Orioles to show up?
Bsharf...Very beautiful shots...that Egret is awesome!
Someone opened the Grackle gate and they are taking over the yard!!
Elphaba, loved all your photos.
Mcash, you can send your starling to me. I just love them.
Nanny, glad you're still seeing the robins. Great photos of them, the cardinal and the chickadee.
Bsharf, amazing photos of the egret, ibis and the grackle. All three are awesome!
Rose and Pelle, tell your grackles to come this way, I'll feed those beauties! Great shot Pelle.
ducbucln, wish it was that easy.LOL!!
They are pushy and they eat too much, especially the suet...they don't stop eating until every crumb is gone!
Actually I only have too many in the spring then they leave. I think it's too hot, dry and windy for them here in the summer.
What do you like about them?
Margaret
Bsharf, WOW!!! Those photos are amazing. I just love the Ibis picture, and that egret photo is pure art! Stunning.
Great Grackle pics. I am so mean to those poor birds except when they have red-winged blackbirds with them. I just can't stand the noise they make.
pelletory - Quote, "Nice shots Hack! love the Coots and Cormorants!" Me, too. Thanks.
FruitOfTheVine - "Your Male mallard looks like a picture perfect post-card." Thank you, it was one of my better shots.
nanny_56 - I sure would like to see a Pileated Wp. I tried my hand at editing your pic, here's how it turned out.
Well, that didn't work worth a flip. Sorry nanny. I liked the Carolina Chickadee on the safflower feeder. Nice eye shine.
reddirtretiree - I never get tired of seeing your light-colored dove.
dellrose - Yep, that park is about 7 miles from my house. I think your Sparrow is an American Tree Sparrow. See the two-toned beak (black upper beak, yellow lower beak. Chippers don't have a two-toned beak.
sacarvounis - I say one thing, he sure is BLUE.
ducbucln - Quote, "Hack, you found all kinds of great birds at the park. Love the egret shot. Wonderful job on the mallard pair too!" Thanks a lot. The park is always fun to visit. And I too, love the red eyes on a Spotted Towhee. Photoed me one today, too.
Elphaba - I visited and saw the Brazos Bend bird pics - WOW. Super pics.
mcash70 - Maybe Spring won't be far off. Surely the Robins and Juncos are a sign.
bsharf - You pic of the Great Egret in breeding plumage is breath-taking.
pelletory - I like the sheen of those three Grackles you snapped.
Hack
bsharf Love that beautiful white Ibis and the Great Egret isn't too shabby either.
Nanny you sure do have a great variety of birds, love all of them.
Hack we have quite a few of the Pileated WP in our area, I see them flying past fairly often, and once and awhile in my yard but they leave before I can get a pic.
This pic was taken while camping at Lac Le Jeune Prov. Park 25/06/2009
Oh...you got a shot of a pretty girl Pileated!
Thank you anyway Hack....the smaller one was back this evening aorund 5 but it was very dark because of rain.
Rose, I am so anxious for the orioles to get here! I have to say it is a toss up between them and the hummers for top summer bird.
Does anybody get Summer Tanagers? I have only ever seen a immature once.....what in the world would draw them in I wonder?????

Nice Hack!! Oh that Thrasher is pretty...that is my DH's favorite summer visitor!
Margaret, Nice shots of the female Pileated!
Hack, Love the Brown Thrasher! Nice pics!
Mcash, I love all black birds because of all the iridescent colors they show in the sun and because I seem to enjoy all the birds that most people call pests. Love that incredible photo of your Pileated Woodpecker. I've just seen one in our area and am always looking for them at a local park.
Hack great captures of the robin (his beak looks like he's been digging for worms!) and the thrasher. You have so many great birds there. Are the cardinals there all year? They sure are beautiful birds.
Here's one of my pretty crows.
That's a beautiful crow shot!
