Well it looks like spring may indeed be on the way...the Meadowlarks are singing like they are trying out for American Idol!!

Beautiful shots Rose! I especially love the Meadowlark!

Thanks so much for starting the new thread!

Great pics on the last thread too. :-)

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Wonderful pics on the last thread, and stunning start to this one! I would just love to see a Meadowlark singing like that. Spring is here. Tons of wildflowers at Brazos Bend. Today was supposed to be cloudy and it's crystal clear. These weather people have really been wrong a lot lately.

I have too many pics to post from my day at Brazos Bend, so I'll start my own thread when I get the energy! Here was another new one for me. I believe it's a house wren. I could have cropped it, but I like that log it's on!

Fantastic photos on that last thread everyone.

Thanks Rose for the new start. Love that gorgeous Meadowlark and all the other birds, including that incredible BB photo in the last thread.

Here's one of my pretty Scrub Jays.

I call this one my "mirror shot". This is the same bird as the previous photo. It seems to enjoy keeping its mouth open wide, maybe it thinks another bird will feed it.

Beautiful shots Duc...I am having shrub, Scrub and Swallow envy!!

It is a wonderful day in the Ozarks...been working outside and spring is definitely in the air!

Here is the female Blue from this morning. I wish I could get the two of them together...such a cute couple!

She's beautiful Rose! Keep watching, maybe you'll get lucky to see them together yet.

Marlton, NJ

Great shots Duc! The female quail is so pretty and the peanut butter Junco is hysterical. Absolutely LOVE that mirror image Tree Swallow!

Rose, She has such a soft beauty!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

All your beautiful photos are inspiring after a long dreary Winter.

Here's a White Breasted Nuthatch this morning against a clear blue sky. Later I saw, and heard, the pair. Sure wish I'd kept my camera ready.

Beautiful start Rose!! I have noticed already that the number of Dark-eyed Juncos are decreasing here rapidly.

dellrose -what a great start to the new thread. That singing Meadowlark belongs in a bird ID book - fantastic!

Elphaba - congrats on your new bird.

ducbucln - your Tree Swallows are beautiful.

FruitOfTheVine nice shot of the White-breasted Nuthatch

Nice shots Hack! love the Coots and Cormorants!

Good shots FOV and nanny!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

We're seeing less dark-eyed Juncos here too, nanny.

Hack, the only time I've noticed Cormorant's is at the Coast. Your Male mallard looks like a picture perfect post-card.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a Dark-eyed Junco lately, either.

A shot of the Northern Mockingbird that was here yesterday morning!!

The Pileated from yesterday too...he was in bad light, early morning and I hadn't been awake very long. I wasn't ready for camera mode so couldn't the settings right! I think this is a different male from the one last week which was a much larger bird.

That Meadow Lark sure looks happy to see spring weather! Great pics everyone.

I wouldn't complain about a poor picture os a piliated--just want to see the one which lurks around here in the summer.

Elphaba...I forgot to mention how cute your House Wren is and I hope to get to visit Brazos Bend someday. Looking forward to your thread on all you saw there.

Nanny...that Junco you posted looks like it is getting pumped up for the flight north...what a chubby bird!! I am jealous of your Pileated WP's..haven't seen ours in awhile. We are seen pairs of Mockingbirds now but they don't come to the feeders...they are mad at me since I put the meal worms in cages...LOL!

Hack...You sure see a lot of birds and are doing a great job of photographing them. I just love that Mallard and the Cormorant...very cool. I have seen a few Yellow-rumped Warblers but no pics yet...they are too fast for me. Are you seeing your shore birds at that place that is 7 miles from your home? If so...you are ever so fortunate to have so much so close!!

FOV...Your Nuthatch is so cute and I love seeing those blue skies!

Red...Cute little Sparrow but I'm thinking Chipping? Here is what I thought was a Tree Sparrow..it takes very little to confuse me with Sparrows. That Dove is just beautiful!!

Great photos everyone! Love the meadowlark shot! Great way to kick off a new thread...thanks!

I haven't seen a Junco in at least a week....they are always the first ones to leave. :(

Nanny...I'd be happy with any kind of shot of a pileated WP. I would SO love to have one at my feeders....

The activity is picking up in the yard. Lots of singing and chasing about....it sure is exciting.

Here's the male bluebird from this morning. He is spending more and more time near the box and his dish seemingly posing....it sure is funny!

FruitoftheVine, that's a cute nuthatch. Hope you'll get more photos of them.
Nanny, hope the decline of juncos means that spring is coming for you. Mine are disappearing too. Love the mocker and the pileated is fantastic!
Hack, you found all kinds of great birds at the park. Love the egret shot. Wonderful job on the mallard pair too!
Red, sweet looking sparrow and I love the dove.
Rose, your sparrow is a pretty color.
Sacarvounis, what a cute pose on your bb.

Here's one of my Golden crowned Sparrows.

This isn't really good, but this California Thrasher wouldn't stand still for me in the bright light.

I think this is a Hermit Thrush. Unfortunately I was on the top deck looking down at it.
