I have been reading about the use of ash in the garden and in the composting bin. The information I have found states that the ash is high in PH. I am new to living at on a farm, gardening, landscaping and living in the south. So, I am trying to fix up the landscape and I do have a lot of ashes from the fire pit. I am afraid to use it in my garden last year my tomatoes, okra, and late greens did good with the soil I have. I don't want to mess it up. But, I have woods with a ton of trees, weeds and brier's. After, we try to remove the unwanted stuff, can we put the ashes on them and stump the growth between trees. They are mostly soft woods.
Wood Ash mixed in the woods
Do you mean "stunt" the growth between the trees?
Ash is good for the soil, it won't supress weeds though.
