Try the ones with a separate cell and LED lights that you can place in the lantern.
Garden Projects Two - 2010
Looks A M A Z I N G, Bill!!!!! Very well done.
thx jan
those are the types i am looking at - they do not have the right time of light fixture.
Bill, I have japanese lantern envy. Where did you get them?
Great job, btw!
yes Bill LED solar is the key
Nice Bill, the lanterns look great as does the stone and brick work. That reminds me I have to get back to my uncles and get another 1000 brick or so.Ric
Great lanterns, Bill! I love them! Nice arch, too.
Karen
thx karen
soj - i bought the lanterns here - http://www.cherryblossomgardens.com/ - frieght was almost as much as a lantern - if you ever are interested in getting one i'll order with you and split the cost:)
They look great Bill!!!
Wow, I'm impressed! Very nice job, Bill. Thanks, Harper. I priced wooden fence sections at Lowes...I need 8 eight ft. sections at @ $ 23.00 per section, plus tax, plus paint , plus getting son down here to put everything up--grrrr!
Wow - I 'm think I'm definitely getting one. Been looking at them for a while, but I wanted real stone instead of cement so these are perfect. Just gotta battle out the selection with hubby. I have a feeling we're not going to choose the same one...
Keep your eye put for estate sales. garden ornaments are often for sale. Personally, I like the look of them a lot - but in isolation. If I were to put one in my garden I would have to do a whole Japanese garden theme to the area and I don't want to do that. Just my own opinion.
soj - i am serious let me know and we can split the freight costs - they have a 20% off sale towards the end of the year from turkey day till new years - not sure if they do specials at any other time. freight was over $200 from the west coast - and i searched long and hard and could not find better quality at this price.
Bill - I will definitely let you know. Is there sales tax? If so, we can have them shipped to my house. I'll d-mail you when I get the okay from the other half.
10% off right now. I like 20% better but turkey day's a loooong ways away :)

great job on the lanterns
I also love the WS MJ.....LOL
Janet
soj - they are pretty nice there - we can ask when the next 20% off deal is - maybe july 4th?
the yard is finally edged - may go back and get some squiggly edging my better half pointed out today - tomorrow is another transplant day - did move one HUGE vib today and need to move another tomorrow as well as several other transplants - then it will be digging to enlarge a few beds - the fight with roots and rocks will begin again.
monday i call for dirt - might be to early for delivery
Bill - any job hunting squeezed in among all these garden projects?!! ^_^
Bill, I like the idea of asking when they'll have another 20% off sale, I don't mind waiting, even if it means turkey day. My husband and I finally agreed on one.
What a gorgeous day! I abandoned my homework so I could play in the yard all day. I'm almost finished raking all the beds - I didn't have time for any fall cleanup last year so the yard was a mess. Also got the small patio pond drained, cleaned out, refilled and running. My husband is rebuilding the big waterfall in the larger pond so that's not running yet. Hopefully in another week or so.
This year's project, if I can eek enough time out of my schedule, will be the front yard. I don't have a vision for it yet - been trying to decide what to do with it for the past couple years, but it's just not coming to me.
Now I have a paper to write...no rest for the weary.
What are you studying, Christina?
Current course is on leadership. I'm working on my MBA and also studying for the CMA exams (Certified Management Accountant) - very similar to CPA, but focus is on accounting in organizations versus public accounting.
fixed typo

Cool - good luck! (Hope you do your own taxes!!^_^)
Thanks. Actually, oddly enough, my husband does our taxes!
I would mark that as a 'Needs improvement!'
You're tough. Our taxes are too easy and boring - so I'm perfectly content to let him do them :)
christina dmail which one you chose
have a lot of stuff currently going on with the job front right now victor.
Good luck, Bill!
I'm not surprised at how much the freight is on those lanterns, Bill, being so heavy and all. Was that $200 freight charge for the both of them or for each? If I were to purchase any it would be locally where I could bring them home in my car. We have places around here that sell them. Not cheap, though.
Hope you find a good job, Bill, one that you'll be happy with.
Karen
I love the lanterns Bill!!
I started a garden project today that I've been meaning to do for awhile. I have one area along out back fence where I could put one more raised bed- a small one. I don't have any extra money right now to buy a palette of stones for the edgeing so I bought some cinder blocks. I applied hypertufa today to the blocks in my studio, to make the blocks look more stonelike and rustic. I already had extra materials to make the hypertufa, so the investment was pretty small for just the blocks. I'm hoping it works and doesn't look awful when I get it all done! All my other beds are edged in stones, so I want this to blend in.
Sounds really nice, Noreaster. I look forward to seeing pics.
Karen
karen i did buy one locally - actually an hour in your direction - and it was much more expensive and not as detailed and did not have the hole drilled for electric - the freight for two was the same for one - it still was cheaper to pay for the freight and get two lanterns
Then I say you got a great deal. I like your style.
Karen
fits right in with your new lanterns
