I know deer like to eat mostly anything these days....I live in a very wooded area with lots of wild-life...I am looking for some nice flowering shrubs that deer dislike...anyone have ideas on what kind? Thanks~
Deer-proof shrubs???
They will eat anything if they are hungry enough.
Usually leave the following alone....
Butterfly Bush(buddleia)
Bush Cinquefoil
Viburnum
Blue Mist Shrub(Caryopteris)
Barberry
Bayberry
Holly(Ilex)
Japanese Pieris
Common Boxwood
They definitely leave my butterfly bush and barberry alone but my holly and viburnum were destroyed....thanks for the other ideas! :)
the variegated dogwoods did fine in my area. I didn't see a deer all spring, summer or fall any where near them. They did however go after my only arborvitaes that didn't have deer resistant tags on them when I bought them. Those arborvitaes were right next to the dogwoods. The variegated dogwoods are pretty they do have little white flowers for a short amount of time but they are best known for their winter show! They don't have any leaves in the late fall and winter and the branches get this beautiful deep bright red! Great plant for winter interest and decorating your house for the holidays! Good luck!

I have Lilacs they have let alone, but destroyed my Mock Orange.
I was considering a mock orange but decided against it....I am glad about that now! I heard they don't like viburnum but they ate my baby one and they ate my baby hydrangeas but not the adult ones....very confusing!
