Rhododendron leaves pointing down - is this normal?

Gosport, United Kingdom

Hello - I've moved to a new home and have rhododendrons in my garden. On some the leaves point upwards, and in others the leaves point downwards. The leaves drooping downwards don't look unhealthy otherwise, but I'm concerned that they should be pointing upwards like the others - is this normal or is it a sign that they need some TLC? Thanks

Can you post some pictures?

I was going to ask the same thing, when it's cold they point down.

Our neighbor has a yard full and they all point down and look sad in the winter.

Eventually, when you get to know the pattern of how the leaves react to the cold, you'll be able to know roughly what the temperature is outside when it is cold, especially if it's near or below freezing.

Thanks very much for all your replies. It has been an unusually cold winter here in the south of the UK, with snow and frosts - so I feel reassured! I will wait for the warmer weather and hope they spring back to life.

Don't sweat it man! we've had rhoddies covered in ice for a week here in the past and they bloomed like champs the following season.

edit: They're just sad. Waiting for Persephone.
