Just back from the cub scout den pinewood derby runs. My younger guy won his heat and will compete in the finals on Thu. Older guy was not as lucky.
Coffee Break #33 - Let's Go Lily!!
Congrats!!!!
Thanks!
Fun!
Yay for the little guy! Allison, sorry about sister & niece--have fun at the party, too, not just running around serving everyone else!
Allison - sorry to hear about your sister and niece. I hope all turns out well for them both. It is so unsettling when people who do everything right have serious health problems. Doesn't seem right! Good luck on your party.....hope it's going well as we speak!!!
yeah for your little guy Victor!!.. party went well.. we are both pooped out
Thanks, Allison. Great to hear about the party!
Big day here...my son lost his first tooth.
tooth fairy visit tonight?
Ya, have to find out the going rate for 1st tooth.
I gave $5 for the first. Each after is $1.
I gave a dollar in coin format. First it was Susan B Anthony, then Sacajawea.
edited to say: Congrats Mom!

I gave them for the subsequent ones. The gold Sac ones.
Did I tell you I have a loose tooth? Wow, you folks are generous---DS was given quarters, but only for the first few---his braces cost a mint!
I only got quarters too. Inflation!
Quarters here. Friends are giving $5. I think that's outrageous!
Hey!
For EACH tooth!
Oh, okay - yes that is outrageous.
Here's another outrageous thing. My 5th grade son's friend's mom told us yesterday that girls are texting him already! What is it with girls today?!! Do their moms approve? Scary stuff. Sexting is more and more common. Crazy world out there.
Why does a 5th grader need a phone???
Jen - bad news for you - my son's classmates (a few) had them in FIRST grade! Sick!
Yes. All my sons had phones by 3rd grade. Mine still doesn't have a phone.
How many sons do you have, Harp?!!! ^_^
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Duh. I meant all my son's FRIENDS. My mind is in two places at once.
Just teasing. Trying to decide when to get one for my son.
My rule was that when he gets to be at an age where he has permission to leave the home without adult supervision, is when he gets a phone. Any earlier than that and he can ask the adult he's with to use the phone, and that would be ONLY to call me. At 14 now, he has that permission, but I just lend him my phone to try to save money. He can have his own phone later... maybe after he gets a job and buys one. Ha!
I would get the ones with only 4 numbers programed in... no texting... but I don't have kids.. just my two cents
Doesn't matter if you don't have kids Allison, that makes sense.
That was going to ne my suggestion - you beat me to it, Allison.
DD got one for DGD on her 11th birthday only because she has after school basketball practice, girls scouts, and soccer. I believe she set up a program with Verizon and she can control, and view the numbers dialed along with any text online. Not positive...but I know it's along those lines and she can view it all online.
Yikes, you guys that have little ones today have so many more complicated challenges than we did. I feel for you.
Victor - any shots this year of your little guy's victory??? That's so cute, and it must have been very exciting.
Allison - glad the party went well....were the fur lovers and their spooning antics the entertainment for the guests? LOL
everyone loved the fur balls... Riley kept barking at my 6'3" uncle... the little boy didn't like that monster in the house.. LOL
I'll take pics at the finals.
Yes, it's way tougher these days, Louise.
Just caught up on all the posts I had missed. Re cell phones (we didn't have them of course) I would wait until after school activities are such that they need to call for pick-up. The problem is that regular pay phones are phased out or damaged.
Talk about having a bad day!!!!

Steaks for dinner!!
I cannot believe that people are complaining, and government agencies are apologizing, for warning people about the possible tsunami that did not materialize!! Did people want it??!! People are so dumb, it's mind-numbing.
Yep--they are! Loved the cow story, but I feel for that poor family---@#$ insurance company! She should have said intruders broke in---didn't have to mention they were cows---
I agree Robin, but then the insurance guy might of slipped in some manure...might of been hard to explain. LOL
