Gita, I think Charlottes is just in your area, but if you go by and want to inquire that would be appreciated. I went on line and ordered 2 scarfs from Headcovers.com they have the best prices I could find online and they have good quality.
The weather has turned chilly starting last Saturday so I stayed in most of the weekend, planted seeds in the basement, it is starting to get full down there.
Billy, your friend is right, it does get a bit frosty on the nude noggin (one of Sallyg's sayings.) LOL. Nice tulips! I have these blooming right now, love the blue, waiting for the daffs. Seems like we are getting the April showers and the March winds today.
News not so good.
Sweet! I've got reticulated irises blooming now also, and around back (where it's a bit warmer) the earlier daffs have started blooming in the island bed (Ice Follies in front, some unknown "yellow jonquil" in back, and a ring of Gemini_Sage's little yellow daffs around the mimosa.
Joyanna's crocus lawn is in full swing! I think the bright yellow ones are 'Goldilocks'.
How pretty, Jill ! Looks like it goes on forever. I can see Joyanna smiling and clapping her hands.
Her first experience with bare toes in grass was among the crocus blooms... I think she probably believes crocuses are just part of what makes grass so wonderful, as though they are in every lawn. :-)
I hope your week goes well, LadyG... praying that the chemo is doing its job tenfold on the cancer while sparing the rest of you as much as possible!
Chris, You never saw it, but I wore my hair shoulder length. The first time I had it cut was on a bet in a local watering hole by a Marine. He had teased me for a couple of years about looking like a man and I told him if he put his money where his mouth was, he could cut it anyway he liked! He asked how much, and I said $200 for the local Kids Christmas party (a local DOD thing). Well he went around the bar asking for help, and came up with the money and a set of clippers. LOL We were leaving for Duck, NC the next day and to make a long story short. I got the worst sun burn on my head and neck the first day of surf fishing. I did grow it back and had it cut for Locks of Love the next time, (our son Jamie is currently doing that), and I've worn it short since. Just thought you may enjoy the story. With the best in wishes and prayers. Ric
Tell that fella of yours I said , HI.
Good morning Chris! wishing you some rays of sunshine today and a crop of exicting new baby seedlings- they never fail to amaze me. Like life from nothing!
Ric, I had to read the story all the way through to see if it was you or Holly. LOL
Locks of Love is a great cause, nice to see the guys joining in.
My hair stylist called her brother who shaves his head all the time and he gave her some pointers, she soften up what was left with stright hair conditioner before she started, that avoided razor burn, she did a wonderful job.
No sun here today, I'll be leaving for work soon. I checked on my seedlings last night, I'll check on them again when I get back home. There is always something new popping up in the basement.
LadyG, those are a gorgeous blue! I'm glad you are getting seeds going. I think you'll be putting plants out earlier than me.
Critter, the crocus are beautiful! What a wonderful yardful! Goldilocks is the perfect name, especially for a little girl's bed!
(HollyAnn) Ric, what a wonderful story! I really smiled! You are a great guy and so is your Son!!
LadyG, those babies in the basement wait all day for you! I love how Sallyg put it!
We are sunshine and in the 60's this afternoon. I already have sunscreen on my nose so I don't forget. I'll start with a coat, so don't need to do my arms yet. I have to let the sun in a little.
I hope you have a good day at work!
(((Hugs)))
Lady, that blue is so exquisite--like a Blue Canton dish. Chilly and breezy today, but it isn't stopping everything from putting on green, and purple, and red. You can almost see a difference in growth from morning to evening. We have five trees that were planted in early December, long after all the leaves had fallen. All five have started putting out tiny leaves. What a treat. Billlyporter, hope you enjoyed your weekend with the grandchildren. It's so wonderful when they are old enough to stay over and not cry to go home just prior to bedtime (lol). Jill, How many bulbs would you say are in your lawn this year? It must be 1000's. I love the Goldilocks, so Joyanna! A Glorious week to all. Pam
Pam, we put 3000 crocus bulbs into the front lawn... not all are blooming at once, so it should be an extended show!
I'm not really sure how many bulbs are in the yard... lots and lots, LOL. I've been putting in 1 or 2 "kilobulbs" (Jim's term) each year for several years now. That's not as impressive as it sounds, since I'd say at least 2/3 of them are usually "little bulbs" -- crocuses, species tulips, anemone blanda, muscari, etc.
The island bed in back has started its first round of blooming, and it looks so sunny and bright, even on this cloudy day. There's a ring of little daffs at one end (around Jim's mimosa), and then the front part of the bed has earlier & later white daffs (Ice Follies, then Geranium) and the back part has earlier & later yellow daffs (unknown type, then 'Yellow Cheerfulness'). When the daffs are done, the daylilies take over. :-)
LadyG, I agree... there's nothing more exciting or encouraging than to see a little row of leaflets poking up from what was bare potting mix just hours before!
Chris, I figured out that hair conditioner was a good substitute for shaving cream years ago. LOL Ric

ROFLOL
The only thing I would have done differently with those Blue Iris, plant in a clump instead of a serpentine row. I thought they would have multiplied quickly, but they are taking their time.
Sunny tomarrow and in the 50s. I need some sun!
Pamgarden, they do great! They started in bed with us for a year or so and now we got them on an air mattress in the other room. They're 5 and 3.
Crittter, you do what I think about, but don't. That is great! Joyanna is going to be surrounded by color!
LadyG, they will be done blooming first and can be moved anytime after that. I found it's sure easier to move a few new ones than 10 years of crowded intertwined plants. Plus, I hate to throw anything away so I plop the leftovers in a new bed and have a mess all over again.
The last two years, I've been creating a free pile acrosss the road. All the plants get taken and I have people cruising by to see if I've set any more out. I love it! I dug a bushelful of yellow daffoldis and they were all taken. I couldn't believe it.
I got some sun today and raked a lot of leaves for the compost pile.
Happy, sunshiney day today!
Hi LadyG,
Chris, I finally had a minute to visit the MidAtlantic thread and saw your "New not so good" post and just caught up. Aaakkk, I don't usually hate things, but I do hate cancer cells. I was glad to read your brain scan came back clean, and that you have been able to continue doing things you enjoy, like gardening ^_^
love, hugs and well wishes,
Diana
Good afternoon! I finally got some of my garden seeds sown after dinner. It's spit rain off and on, but we haven't much to show for it.
Hope you're having a good day!
(((Hugs)))
Hi everyone, had my 2nd chemo treatment today, the only bad thing was it was sunny and warmer out and I was inside or in the car most of the day. Things went well and I have a new RX to get me through the weekend.
Even though I sat on my duff most of the day I am tired and just want to chill out.
Diana, nice to see you! Don't be a stranger.
Hi Chris. Checking in to see how you are doing. Glad to hear that you are still keeping your spirits up. Heard the spring peepers in full symphony last night and thought of you :-) Your iris are so pretty. Critter and I saw some similar to it at the Philly Flower Show, and I was thinking that I have a perfect spot for some. One more thing to add to the "want" list. Critter, I was hoping to see pics of that crocus lawn - it looks great! Nothing much blooming for me here yet - just a few snowdrops and the helebores I planted last year. They are still pretty small, but I was thrilled that they bloomed anyway. Oh, and my winter sowing attempts are all sprouting too. Terri
Take care Ladyg, I hope you will be feeling better soon.
LadyG, I hope you keep feeling good! That's two down! It was wet and dreary here. Have a nice chilled evening! (((HUGS)))
Terri, you have to come by and see what's blooming here! I've posted some photos of Joyanna among the crocuses near the end of this thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1074596/
LadyG, I'm glad you got through the day all right. Hope you're having a restful, healing night! We'll hope you bounce back better this time. *gentle hugs*

Yup, that's two down! Thinking of you and hoping with the new med it goes pretty bearable. Better weather will be on its way in weeks to come!
Praying the ne RX will do the trick for you.
We have had a mallard couple visit our neighborhood the last couple of years. The other night DH looked out the kitchen window and said there was a duck leaving our yard. I hadn't seen it, so I threw open the window and made my 'duck' call and she perked up, did an about face and promptly waddled back toward the house. I flew to get some birdseed that I would put out for them and she came waddling up almowt to me. However, her DH wasn't with her and I wondered about his fate. Well, yesterday, I took a couple of the grandkids outside after dinner and as we started down the steps, Luke said "Ducks" I said "freeze" and they both stopped. I ran to get some seed. When I came out, both Mr and Mrs Mallard were there. I rejoiced! The kids were great and we sat over a little ways away watching them eat. We ran around the yard , but our little friends just watched, but didn't waddle away. YIPPEE!!! I am thrilled on their return.
How sweet!
Chris, Just checking in to see how you're doing. I'm hoping that you'll have less discomfort than last time. Wishing I could walk your garden with you.
Jan23, that was so cute! Oh, a happy ending!
LadyG, I hope you're feeling ok. A big hug (((( )))) cause I'll bet you're a little tired.
They were back this evening and then I saw them head up the street getting hand-outs from the neighbors.
Hoping you got some good rest today, LadyG. I like typing that it - looks like we have royalty here. ^_^
Jan23, isn't nice to have something different to look forward to, and I mean goslings!!
LadyG, I seem to get up later each day. I hope you are relaxing with a hot cup of your choice! Hugs, and hope you feel OK!
My Mom has ducks in her development. There is a creek just down over the hill from them. She had them nesting under one of her trees where there was a bed of vinca. It was near her front bedroom window and she would sleep in that room with the window open so she could be close enough to chase any cats away while the chicks were young.
Good morning everyone, Yesterday was a long day, I went to work and at lunch time went to local hospital to get my Neulasta shot. Well they only had 2 RNs in the outpatient unit (very small hospital) so I had to sit and wait, 1/2 hour of lunch time gone. Had to stop at drug store to pick up RX, the fill it with 2 pills. I asked if that was correct ???? The pharmacist said yes. I stopped at grocery store to pick up a sandwich for lunch. So now I'm late, hate being late (boss good guy so no harm done).
I called my doctor about the RX, she and staff were out of the office for the day. The charge nurse fielded my call and said that definitely the RX was wrong the norm is 20 pills. she called the pharmacy and explained but they still needed Dr's ok. Voice message was sent to Dr. by nurse. Had to call pharmacy in an hour, it is now 5:00, the gang hung out with me at the office for an hour just chatting which was nice. I called up to pharmacy, it was ready. Drove up there, doctor did not call yet. Sat around at drug store an other 1/2 hour. The pharmacist came out to talk to me, We had a nice chat and she will be expecting to hear from Dr. I'll send DH over to get RX when this is resolved. I made a call to the pharmacy and the Dr this morning getting the wheels in motion again.
I took an Ibuprofen and benadrly last night and slept well. A little achy this morning so popped another ibuprofen.
Jan I loved your ducky story, I'm glad the couple is ok and is visiting you again. Do you think they will stay all summer. Maybe you will have a family.
We got a dusting of snow last night I sure hope this was it's final oncore. LOL
Good morning! Boy what a hassle with the Rx!
We have some kind of snow mentioned in the forecast here too. Surely just something that may blow thru with a cold blast. It could be our Redbud Winter (late frost) I think my redbud is going to bloom soon.
I hope they do stay around. They really are cute with their little waddles and 'qwacky' sound. I think it's great for the grandkids to learn to be mindful of 'others', too. So hard for younguns to control their desires to run and pick them up.
Sally, could you explain the redbud winter comment? I have never heard that before. Seems like something to tuck into my memory bank ( if I could find where I left it)
Have a great weekend, LadyG, and hope the Rx issue gets resolved. Sheesh!!!
Sorry about the hassle, LadyG. 2 pills! I guess the prescription had a typo?
Hope the sun wins its battle with the clouds soon... we could all use a sunny weekend!
*hugs*
As per our forecast here---it is going down to the high 20's tonight!
Supposed to be a cool, windy weekend. One can hope for more sunny, warm weather next week......
I guess it is ONLY March--so we had a tease of Spring temperatures......Gotcha!!!!
So much for Spring---temporarily.....
G.
HollyAnn, how neat to have them so close. The babies are adorable!
LadyG, I know just how you feel about being late. Grrrr, what a waste of your time! Unbelievable that so many people couldn't get together. Where are all the cell phones you know they have?
Sallyg, love the ''redbud winter.'' Someone on weather, I think, just named off about four descriptions. Linsey Woolsey is the only one I remember. If I even have that right, LOL!
Gitagal, I tell myself that every year. It's only March and April is worse :o(
LadyG, I hope you continue to feel well. Take Care!!
LadyG---
I picked up a booklet at one of my Dr.s offices called: "Chemosavvy" that is all filled with caps and scarves and hats, etc. to wear after hair loss. 30 pages of it all!
Their website is: www.chemosavvy.com Look into it.
I have not yet had a chance to stop by the place near me.
However--they are called: Charlottes Hair, Inc. Maybe you can Google it....They are located on Honeygo Blvd---and the zip-code is 21236 (Baltimore, MD).
Good luck! Gita
So as not to digress into weather too much

Neat article Sally, Thanks! I must come from common field stock as I remember such sayings as: onion snow, pea frost, pear frost, and less common persimmon frost. The last 2 signifying fall events which were needed for the fruits to sweeten. Ric
Thanks, Sally. Sorry for the digression.
Sallyg, I love the old timer's ways. I'm getting to where I look up and try to decide if it will rain or not. A lot of times I'm right. I can't recall any of my older relatives talking about signs. I wish they had. I love stuff like that. It's like being let in on a secret.
Good morning LadyG. I hope you sleep in this morn. How are the basement seedling doing and what did you sow?
