I during the day I often see this Mockingbird perched on the crown of the neighbor's house.

DAILY PICS, VOL. 289
red, to address your question about the Ring-necked Ducks, they are, in fact, sometimes called Ring-bills. However, they got their name because of a brown or cinnamon ring around their neck which is very difficult to see, especially at any distance. None of my photos have ever shown it distinctly.
Margaret, always like the New Holland Honeyeater.
Rose, like your Fox sparrow photos.
duc, the Tree Swallows always make an excellent subject to photograph, especially when they are active in the Springtime.
Elphaba, I always told my children that they were fighting". They might still think that.
pelle, nice female Red-winged Blackbirds. A little warmer here today but extremely windy. I tried to take a few Cardinal photos in the hemlocks this morning and they were bouncing around all over the place.
nanny, you got to get back there for the Horned Larks. It probably was them.
Nice collages, Hack. You will find that the whole peanuts disappear quickly. I only put them out when I'm taking photos. I just grab a handful and put them in a platform-type feeder. I like your Pine Warblers. They are really yellow compared to what I'm used to seeing.
Very nice collages Hack!
Those are nice Hack...I would love to see a Pine Warbler someday, they are sure pretty. Of all the shots you posted my most favorite is that cute Chickadee landing on the feeder in the first collage. It is an adorable shot!!
Wow, I'd never dream female Brown Headed Cowbirds and the female Redwinged Blackbirds are quite 'colorful' in their own way. Thanks all for sharing those pictures which I don't usually capture down here.
Hack, here is the type of suet I use. In the ingredients they listed "RenderedBeef Suet, Sunflower Seeds, and Millet & Corn." Remember, BBs were not typically found here feeding on suet. Just that this winter is has been rough on them. They used the suet for the FIRST time ever. Also, I'm so glad you posted the collage on the Brown Headed Nutchatch! I've been trying to capture a pix of one (I think) when the lighting didn't cooperate, I gave up thinking to myself I may have seen things. But the strange new bird I saw looks very much like yours. Nice collages.
Wow! I just love that action shot of the Swan trying to intimidate competitor! Great Shot sunnyg. And the "water chicken" in the background. :-)
duc, the Tree Swallows are so sweet.
Hack, nice collages. I particularly like the one of the Caroline Wrens.
Beautiful shots, sunnyg. Great capture on the feisty swan.
Lily_love, I am so glad you're getting Bluebirds.
Love those Mockingbirds, Elphaba.
Sweet little Junco, red.
Nanny and Pelle, that looks sooooooooooooooooooooo cold. Don't worry, Spring really will arrive.
From 10 minutes ago. A juvenile pink and Grey Galah at home. Note how the gate has been chewed.
Zoomed in. I wish I could post the sound of these young ones calling for food. It sounds just like a human baby, but very loud. When there are three or four of them together, it is so loud it almost has a surreal feeling to it, but it isn't the ear iercing sound of the Rainbow Lorikeets. The youngs ones are fed by aunts and uncles, not just the parents.
Adult male.
They are funny things. If the adult birds are down on the ground having a supplementary feed of seed and the young ones come along and try to eat from the same dish, they're sent packing by the adults. They won't let them anywhere near the food. But then, the adults will fly up into a tree and happily regurgitate the chomped up seed into a waiting line of squawking kids. As I type this, that is exactly what's happening just outside.
I'm new to the forum and really enjoying the pictures. Thank you for posting them.
We recently moved to the midlands of South Carolina and have a couple of acres on the edge of a very big lake. About half the property is wooded and we've found it ideal for birdwatching. 33 species identified so far.
I'll post pictures after I find my camera.
Welcome LaLambchop, 33 is impressive!
Margaret, wow, love that bird. Sorry about the fence.
I rigged a squirrel baffle today for a feeder that was called "The Squirrel Stumper." It didn't stump the squirrels but it's a good clinging feeder. I also took a huge, heavy orchid out of the shed for the first time in a week. It has buds on it and two were opening. It's the first time that it has bloomed since I bought it years ago. I just went outside to discover that the squirrels chewed almost all the buds off. I'm so heartbroken. They didn't even eat them they just left them on the ground. They got me back good.
Here are a couple of girls enjoying the squirrel-free squirrel stumper. Female Cardinal and female Red-winged Blackbird.
Sunnyg, Those are some great pics! I love the Great Egret and Cormorant. Thanks for posting them!
Margaret, Those Galah are so sweet, emotional and intelligent looking! Wonderful pics!
Elphaba, Nice shot of the ladies!

linthicum - I'm way behind all the other comments, but the cardinal in the hemlock is stunning. If that was my image, everyone would be getting it on their Christmas cards this year for sure! :)
MargaretK - That Honeyeater is the truth. I love that look.
Here is a Great Blue Heron from a year or so ago. I was up early one morning on a camping trip and found him doing a little fishing just at daylight.

Ive been taking my old camera with me on my ride's to work, so far Ive taken terrible photo's, but with the truck running and no tripod I expected that. As long as I can get a couple of decent one's every now and then I,ll take it.
These 3 pictures were the only one's that turned out. First Canada Geese in a field.
Man, Burd, you hit the mother load of Horned Lark's. Looks like we're cross posting.
