Not many birds in the area at this time, so I'll start the thread with this Goldfinch I saw yesterday at our local Post Office.
DAILY PICS. VOLUME 287
Nice pic.
Thanks for starting the new thread adel! Nice Lesser Goldfinch!
Lovely pics Linth! Love the fluffy Red-bellied!
Adel, thank you, nice start with the goldfinch.
Linth lovely series.
Thanks for the nice words on the last thread. Everyone has contributed beautifully.
Found a new bird today, wish I had been on the other side of the birds for the pic. Had to lighten it quite a bit, so you would be able to see, that these were the White-winged Crossbills. But I'm very happy to have seen them.
adelbertcat - thanks for starting the new thread. Nice colors for the Goldfinch. Does your local Post Office had bird feeders on site?
linthicum - gracious, that red bird is RED. Great snap
Mrs_Ed - I've seen my Blue Jays hammer away at a seed, also - but I haven't seen a Blue Jay lately.
burn_2007, I looked in my Kaufman book and saw that those Snow Bunting s were about as far south as they're ever going to be - in NB. Cool looking bird.
Hack
Great shots everyone!
Burn, That's so cool you saw the Crossbills and Snow Buntings!
Nice Shots Everyone!! Don't know if that last thread made it 24 hours..lol but it is called the Daily.
From the last thread: Lily nice shot's glad your bird's are returning..you have a lovely place (very nice scenery along your lake).
Pelle, Nice shots! Nice capture of your Cooper's Hawk doing his part to help control the Starling population.
Burn, nice shots of your bird's. I don't think your hawk is a Sharp-shinned...but may be a Merlin (matches my field guide) if anyone else has an opinion please jump in.
Frank, now I know where all the Goldfinch's hang-out. Nice capture with that sock shot!
Margaret, makes me warm inside that your lil Butcherbird does so well and has made you a part of its life.
Hack, really nice shots!! Your Towhee shots are my favorite! Be ready for all those Warbler's your going to get when they start coming back on their way north.
Reddirt, great shot of the pair of Red-tailed Hawk's...good to hear about the pairing activity. Today I had a pair of Cooper's Hawk's playing tag as raptor's do when they start paring up. Ive had enough of the snow, that's for sure.
Your 2nd Hawk picture is not of an immature Cooper's... and my book isn't helping me..maybe Resin or someone can Id it properly, all I can think is a Red-tailed Hawk right now.
Duc, nice shots as usual!! Really like your Oak Titmouse shot!!
ssmith419, nice capture of the Flicker and Downy sharing a meal!
jhowdy, once again welcome to the forum, you take very nice shots!! Looking forward to seeing more of your bird's!
dirt_in_ozone7b, Your flicker is drop dead gorgeous! Love the color's.
Duckmother, that swan is beautiful..nice shot!
Linth, super shots of your visitor's..you know I like the Red-belly shot's the best! Your Grackle's really look cool too.
Nanny, nice shots of your bird's! I too have that same low light and condition's, with no sun forecast for the next week. :(
Adel, nice shot of your Lesser Goldfinch!
Linth, more great photo's!! Send that Mockingbird up here if he's that lonely.lol Your Cardinal shot is fantastic!
Burn, so glad you got to see the Crossbill's, nice job with the shots! One of the Dicovery Channel show's had Crossbill's using those bill's to check for seed's in pine-cones...it was neat how they spread it apart with their bills, like it was made for that purpose.
If I missed anyone sorry about that.
The light was not good and snow shots can be a pain..this first one of Horned Lark's is not that great because there is just no contrast with snow shots.
Edited to say thanks for starting the new thread Adel! Sorry thought I was on a roll. lol

Great views of the horned lark. I had only seen pictures in books before & certainly not waltzing down the RR track.
Hackster...........The Post Misstress has three feeders set up behind the PO.
Burd_Fotos - the Towhee is a handsome bird, especially the guy. We had the snow yesterday and it was so bright, I didn't even try to get any pics. I think your Horned Lark photos came out nice, maybe better than last. I saw your camera settings for the lark were f/5.6, shutter 1/4000, and ISO 400 - is the blazing fast shutter speed how you compensate for the bright snow?
adelbertcat - Your Post Mistress has three feeders set up behind the PO - now that's nice.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone.
What a nice treat this morning. Wake-up to all these beautiful photographs first thing. A lot of hard work by everyone yesterday for sure.
Thanks for the new thread Adelbertcat. Great Goldie. Pick up the mail, capture a few images and head home, makes for a nice trip even if all we get in our box is bills.
Burd - I hope the light is kind to you today, I'm looking forward to another great sampling of your visitors.
Linthicum - The image of the Tufted is wonderful. The rust and whites in the background pick-up on the birds like you planned it that way....you didn't plan that did you? :) It almost looks like a painting the way the colors work together.
Burn - You had me in the bird book this morning looking up your images, very nice captures.
Burd, Nice shots of the Horned Lark!
Thanks for the reminder jh. :-)
Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
Nice series of photos, burn. Last year, we had a flock of White-winged Crossbills visit Maryland for a few weeks. I was fortunate to get to see and photograph them.
Hack, on occasion Snow Buntings also make their way as far south as Maryland.
Burd, nice series, likewise. The Grackles and Blackbirds can clean you out of birdseed in no time.
This is a 'White-breasted Nuthatch' that visited my feeder yesterday .....
I love the Bobwhites red!
Sweet Nuthatch Linth! I was seeing one here daily till just before the GBBC.
