I need a plant in my laundry/bathroom. It will need to sit on the top of my dryer so will receive little light - only what it gets from the light being on and what little comes in the window at the other end of the room (indirect morning sun). I would also like to be able to just run it under the shower head once in awhile to get the dust/dryer lint off.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I have no idea what to put there.
Thanks for your suggestions - have a great day!
Need plant for top of dryer - low light
That might be perfect, do you get those at the local greenhouse?
The big box stores seem to always carry them, in a couple varieties. If you have a Lowe's, they are a good source.
Thanks, Lowes is a mile from me, I am there about every day. I don't remember seeing any of those but will look again. They are just now getting plants back in after Christmas took over the garden center.
I think if I put that with some ivy it would look pretty good. I think I want some kind of vine so it will spread and cover the top of the dryer without covering the controls.
You could also try a pothos... It might look a little scraggly without quite enough light, but it's a great vine and will "walk" itself over to the window and produce some nice leaves there... they handle getting dried out better than ivy does... A snake plant and vine arrangement sounds cool! Good luck!!
Heartleaf Philodendron would also be a good choice, but it'll do the same thing as the Pothos- bare stems, until it finds light. But it's also a very hardy vine, and easy to root.
There are several cultivars, but with a low light situation, I would go with the original plain green ones.
