Great photos, everyone. It certainly looks like the enthusiasm is picking up a little. I keep looking for something different coming in for food but I have the same visitors.
Hack, great variety and you are really enjoying their visits. I like your Pine Warblers, Cedar Waxwings and Towhee best of all.
JH, like your Osprey. I can't wait for them to arrive here in Maryland.
pelle, nice shot of the Cooper's. I agree that they will attack the squirrel. I have a photo of one carrying a squirrel away that I took a few years ago.
duc, nice shot of the Nuttall's Woodpecker .....
Frank, excellent pics of the Goldfinches.
Margaret, are the Grey Butcherbirds all that friendly or just this one ? Nice photos.
Burd, I'm still looking for my first Horned Lark. They are around here. Good shots.
Sorry if I missed anyone ... so many to catch up on.
Here is one of my regular visitor's .... a Northern Cardinal.
Edit: Sorry for the size !!!

Daily Pics. #286
Hack, congratulations on the lifer. The waxwings are so beautiful to see in person. You did a wonderful job on your photo of them. I wondered if you'd see the robins too-sure enough. We usually see the robins a couple weeks before the waxwings appear. Great photos on all your birds! Love that last towhee.
Jhowdy, those are spectacular photos of the osprey.
Pelle, great shots of the hawk. That squirrel sure was brave. We've been seeing the red tailed hawk here and I'm hoping it will move on because our birds disappear too.
Nanny, your dove and cardinal look mighty grateful for that food.
Burn, cute one of your jay. Wonder why my scrub jays won't touch my corn cobs? Great photos.
Frank, beautiful photos of your finches!
Margaret, your butcherbird is adorable. I'm so glad it has survived all those years. The next photos of the Kookaburra could bring a smile to anyone's face-it's just precious.
Burd, that longspur is beautiful.
Red, wonderful photo of the hawks!! Hope you counted all those birds for the bird count.
One of my crows was waiting for the fresh corn cob to be put out. Think he's tired of the suet.
Great pics Linth!
Handsome Crow duc!
Red, That almost looks like an immature Red-tailed Hawk to me.
Burd, Your pics of the Horned Lark reminded of the List of Top 20 Birds in Decline which the Horned Lark is on.
Hmmm... I seen quite a few..all in there only little group's...I will get a count today groups/individuals. One of those group's I hope is the Lapland Longspur's.
Linth. What brilliant coloring of the RB woodpeckers! And yes, photogenic those Common Grackles are! I especially like the Blue Jay with the whole peanut pic.
Red. Love your hawks pics. and the birds are seen in pairs signalling spring is in the air. Ooooh ya, am I ready for spring!
Nan. The unlikely-pair Cardinal & Mourning Dove; but as Duc mentioned they seem to be mighty grateful of the feeder you've provided. Nice pic.
Burn, the Black Capped Chickadees are such cheerful tiny little birds to watch. I'll stand by for your capture of their twinkling eyes as the sunny sky is gradually coming back. Yooohooo!
Frank; some fantastic finches combo you've got. The Goldfinches by themselves are treat!
Margaret. Those Kookaburras however manacing they might be at feeding time. But they do posses an innocient look to their faces. I love see your pics. of those little mischievious-kid like faces. And your unique Butcherbird! What do you supplement feed her/him? What determination it's!
VA_Wild_Rose, your Yellow-rumped Warbler! Such Clear beautiful Shot!
JulieQ, yours as well, great photography!
I hope this is the intended pict. of an Eastern Blue Bird. This is the first-time ever that I see BB came to the suet feeder! 2cousinDave will be proud of me. lol
Hack, what birdbooks are you reading, care to share the tittle of the book? I'd love to learn more about our birds and the different gender's characteristic of our common birds. BTW, I love that pic. of your TT on the limb.
Burk_Fotos, those Horned Lark are very attractive. And yes your photo shows the horns very nicely.
ssmith, Nice shot of the Flicker and Downy!
JH, Good ones of your birds!
ssmith, welcome to our thread. How lucky you're to capture both the Northern Flicker and is that a Downy Woodpecker together. That gives the proportionate different in sizes of the two birds.
JH, clear crisp photos as usual! Your BB puts mine in shame. (due to poor lighting). But I'm so thrilled the Eastern BB discovered my feeder in the backyard. Here I'm anticipating in feeding them meal worms as spring approached.
Better lighting is coming along, slowly but surely. ...
Good morning Pelle, I'm heading out....will add more pics. later on. Have a wonderful bird sighting day everyone.
Nice shot Lily!
Linth, sorry I posted the same time you did. Love your birds!! That red-bellied is a gorgeous bird and the grackles are always one of my favorites.
Ssmith, great shot of the wps!
Jhowdy, wonderful job with your birds too!
Lily, I know what you mean with the lighting-I have that same problem!
My Dark eyed Juncos seem to have multiplied ever since I started the peanut butter log.
From yesterday's bird count,
a wary flicker on the look out for a real nasty
sharpie.
Got me 19 different ones to report but lousy weather kept the
numbers down and a few no-shows.
And after getting some chores done, maybe get another
count today.
You guys are flying by with these threads,
everyone's are wonderful, just that Margaret's
butcherbird is especially nice giving it food and comfort.
Best to you all.
Beautiful pics Duc, Dirt and Duck! :-)))
That's great Lily!
Thanks Pelle, the BB gives much hope; I hope it will brings the fledglings comes spring where I will reward them with meal worms feeder. Can't you tell I'm ready for spring?
Kim, I am so happy for you! Both birds are very beautiful!
I reply to the friends who included me in their comments (hope I didn't miss anyone).
nanny_56 - thanks for the compliments on my photos.
burn_2007 - All the birds keep me busy during your retirement. And you're absolutley right, it is a great pass time.
jhowdy - I have slowly come to realize I may have an above average variety of birds. If you're ever passing through Columbus, give me a call and we'll drink a Coke together. Seriously, PM me for my cell phone number.
pelletory - I didn't know that Coopers will eat squirrels given the chance - seems like the squirrel, with its teeth, could mortally hurt a hawk.
linthicum - Thanks remarking on my bird friends. I think I'm partial to the male Towhee. I've only seen the Cedar Waxwing once.
ducbucln - Its always a thrill to get a lifer. And your right, the robins have been here for a little while and then I saw the Waxwing.
Lily_love - The bird books I use most (in order of the one I grab first) are
1- Stan Tekiela's Birds of Georgia - Field Guide (347 pages)
2- Donald and Lillian Stokes' Beginner's Guide to Birds - Eastern Region (127 pages)
3- Kenn Kaufman's Field Guide to Birds of North America (391 pages)

Nice shots Hack!
Excellent images, duc. You get some great shots of the Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon variation). A little more colorful then our slate-colored Juncos.
Jhowdy, nice quality photos.
duckmother, good close-up of the Mute Swan.
dirt, likewise, nice close-up of the Northern Flicker. I've been hearing them but not seeing them.
Like your collages, Hack.
I took a photo of a Cooper's Hawk carrying away a Squirrel back in 1/07. I didn't want to post it and possibly offend someone. If you're interested I can D-mail the image to you.
I'll take it please. :-)
