Photos during the next day or two

The first part of transitioning Dave's Garden to the new system is to process the images away from the current method over to a new one. To spare you the technical details, this means that each photo is being processed on the server to move to a new format (this re-formatting will be completely invisible to you. It's basically just a matter of renaming all the photo filenames.)

The process may interrupt photo viewing from time to time but I'm doing my best to limit those issues.

Any problems with image viewing should please be reported in this thread.

Feeling sort of goofy and out of sorts today and wondering who 'admin' is? :) I see that you have been here long enough to have exactly a ten year membership and that your time is exactly 5 hours different than mine....hmmmm.

"admin" has always been the general purpose administration account, though rarely used as an actual login.

This is currently Dave using it. I needed admin access today to do work on these images, and I had previously removed admin access from the "dave" username, so...

Plus, if I'm working on the system in an official capacity, it didn't seem right to use my personal membership for that.

It's nice that Dave is Admin today. However, I hope that all of us will
show the same courtesy and respect to the new owners as we do to

Same server, actually. They are being renamed to a new naming convention that'll be compatible with Internet Brands' server system.

Imagine it this way:

A short man with round glasses, holding a clipboard, stands at the front of a line of images, that stretches to the horizon and beyond.

Each image comes to the man and says something like, "My name is JoeGardener_123523423412_122.jpg and I belong to post 3123122 in the forums". He looks at the photo, clicks his tongue, scribbles some notes on his clipboard and replies, "From now on, your new name is 2005/07/23/JoeGardener/ab3eg. I'll notify forum post 3123122 of your new name later. NEXT!"

Chuckle...actually I was just thinking of the old geezers that stand there with their clipboard and study your license photo, your ticket and your real face, going back and forth for several precious minutes - that could mean the difference between making your flight and not.

I mean, honestly -does anyone's driver's license really look like them? As long as the names match up, and the photo is a reasonable facsimile, please please let me pass through so I can be patted, prodded, and x-rayed and then shuffled through.

Flew into Russia once and was forewarned about the scrutiny your passport picture and your face would get. Was told that if you are smiling in the photo, then smile at the security guy or if a frown on the photo, then frown. Guess your little marching photo names must match much the same way!

The server came under some heavy load a few minutes ago and rejected some connections. If you noticed a hiccup, that was it. These should be few and far between over the next couple days.

Those are all fixed.

I have DG being served off only one server right now, but some people are still hitting the other one. Images are being synced off that box in a delayed manner.

I found the problem. DNS migration occurred today and it's pointing back to both servers.

I was scratching my head wondering why people were still hitting the old box. I sent an email to the DNS admins but it may take them until tomorrow to update the zone files. Expect intermitten problems until they get that resolved.

They are making the DNS change now so within an hour any of those DNS related issues will be resolved.

Terese, they are there. If they are not showing up for you, just wait a bit. Within an hour they will start showing up.

Terese, I can see them all - can you refresh your screen and see if that clears it up?
