Nanny, Nice shots of your Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers!
#284 new daily pix
nanny_56 - you have a bunch of good pics. I really like all your various woodpecker shots.
ducbucln - I liked the in-flight snap of the Red tailed Hawk.
duckmother - I feel sorry for the your little bald Cardinal - I agree with the others, you ought to knit him a stocking cap. :-)
MargaretK - that is one weird looking bird, that Male Red Wattlebird.
thebestmissy - I liked the pic of the Orange-crowned Warbler. But I was particularly interested in your homemade Peanut butter mix feeder. Describe the way you prepare stuff inside it, please.
Dang, Burd_Fotos, you covered us up with great photos. I liked 'em all, but I really enjoyed the hawk.

Well, its raining here again and I just looked out the side door and was amazed at what I saw. In my trees, on my feeders, on the ground - everywhere I looked - it was teaming with Goldfinches. I didn't even grab the camera, because I don't think it would be possible for a pic to show the masses, just amazing. Its also dark outside, maybe later it'll lighten up.

Mags, we lots of spiders, so send the waddle bird to our house...but you have to come too!!
Burd, the papa downy is beautiful! Looks like he is playing hide-and-seek with the kids...and/or the wife ;o)) I wonder if we could teach coopers to only eat seeds...they would not have to work so hard to get a meal.
Very nice shots, nanny.
Just for you hack...maybe you can get a good shot of them later...A few Goldfinches during snowstorm yesterday...
Margaret, your Wattlebird is adorable. Do you think it's a juvenile? It has that orange coloring of a baby on the mouth. By the way, check out Canon's newest camera which is almost half of the 7D! It's much lighter than mine which is a huge plus to me! Here's a link with the info-

Missy, your warbler is cute. I've never seen one of these birds.
Burd, love that close-up of the starling and that action one too. Glad the hawk missed them this time. I really enjoyed the b-cap series and the cowbird. What a sweet looking wp!
Nanny, your wps are great!! I didn't know I was supposed to leave the plastic suet container on the back. Guess that helps to keep it together?
Wild Rose, I don't know my hawks very well, but great shot!
Duckmother, cute goldfinches. They're really starting to change colors.
One of my crows that loves suet of any kind.
Sally, It looks like a Red-shouldered but lets see what Resin says.
Duckmother, Love all your Goldfinch!
Duc, Great Scrub Jay action shots. Handsome Crow. Love the Thrasher and Titmouse too!
There are lots of great photos posted today!
Hack, I made Pillata's peanut butter mix from the Peanut Butter Suet - homemade thread, but I used the ingredients that I had:
three heaping tablespoons of chunky peanut butter, 1/2 cup quick oats, 1/2 cornmeal, a good sprinkle of millet
(I didn't have any barley or amaranth.)
That's enough to fill a 4.9 oz Peanut Wasabi can.
Beautiful shots everyone...can't tell you how much I appreciate all you efforts in sharing your feathered friends.
Nanny...I also have a bully RBWP but mine is a female...she runs off everyone including her mate (maybe ex-mate when the season begins)!!
It is cold and snowing up a storm...birds are eating like crazy when the hawks aren't scaring them off!!
Here's a male House Finch from yesterday in the snow...we've only had a few of the HF's this winter.
Missy, I tried to add oats and cornmeal to my chunky peanut butter and my spoiled juncos and sparrows decided they preferred just the chunky peanut butter. It took them 2 days to snub the recipe before I had to dig it out and put just the peanut butter in the holes of my log! Sure wish I'd have invested in a company that makes the peanut butter!!
Nanny, another cute wp!!
Lovely pix, dellrose! I so want to bear hug that wren ;o))
Thanks Rose their all beautiful!
Love the Cardinal!
Rose, I'm with Pelle, they're all beautiful! That BB looks so grumpy and the others are so colorful. Great job!
Oh my, Rose, if I could only get photos like this, I'd be happy. She such a sweet looking little thing.
Hi all, love everyone's pictures. Those Starlings action-shot was my fav. Burd. Yes, I see my Redheaded today, unfortunately, it maybe the one that pecks on the house and wake me up in the morning. lol. duckmother, wow you've had some snow. Please send some my way. Winter, winter go away; come back next year please.
Thanks Duc...but your photos are fabulous!! Those Blues are sweet little things but can be quite mean if they have to be.
Lily...You're so lucky to still see your Redheaded..I haven't seen ours for weeks. They are so striking!!
Here's a Fox Sparrow from just awhile ago...taken from the window of course, our wind chill right now is about 0 degrees.
Lily, the lake and birds look so peaceful. Do you have any migrating waterfowl there now?
Rose, love that beautiful Fox Sparrow! I just can't imagine how those poor birds can survive in that cold. Stay warm inside!
Rose, windchill zero! Oh come down South to get warm. Thanks Duc, it's nice ....andddddd chilly out door, but yes it's peaceful. Ahhh I love those fox sparrow. We've lot of 'water chicken' or American coots taking refuge during the winter months here Duc. When I see that the coots left our area. That means spring is around the corner.
Here is she-cardinal. Isn't she cute?
That's interesting about the Coots Lily. Hope they leave soon, I'm so ready for spring. Yes, she is just beautiful!!
I just went through 3 threads to catch up. WOW!!!! Beautiful everyone!!!
Sunday I went for a walk by the creek...I saw so many birds I didn't know we had where I live. Unfortunatly, I couldn't pics of them. I saw quail, wood peckers, flickers, spotted towhees and all of the birds in my backyard. There were a
pair of ducks enjoying the creek. Those pics turned out.
Wow, there are some really great photographs here. It's so neat everyone can share what is visiting in their neck of the woods this time of year.
Here is a rare sight, actually a first time sighting for me. I don't believe I have ever seen a Oriole in the flesh...errrr...in the feather. This one stopped in for about 10 minutes, checked out the activity in my backyard, took a nice bath and headed to parts unknown. Some days it pays to keep the camera handy.
J, That's just awesome!!!!
