Shot during the snowstorm on friday. Makes you rethink the statement "a birds life"......
#284 new daily pix
Thanks for the thanks~~
I am trying to post a picture! Yesterday I gave in to the snow and sat in it awhile (cold felt good on my back!) so I was close enough to get some pictures. The 'snow' setting on my li'l Panasonic works well but I didn't think about the resolution. All the birds came down for me and I got a few pictures. Now I had to go to Snapfish to edit them because we're in the middle of resolving a computer problem and my editing used to happen on the ones thats 'down' Well, I got them on snapfish and cropped (not as far as I'd like due to resolution) but am stuck about getting that back on the home system, or here. SHeesh. Who said computers make life easier? I'll just go on enjoying all yours for awhile~~~~
Again I have really enjoyed all your bird photos. No different birds here yet. i had hoped to see a robin, but no luck. I went for a little drive up into low hills yesterday. Saw 3 Bald Eagles, and a couple of far away hawks, and 46 deer. The last couple of times I was in same area, no deer at all. And the largest lake I drove by had on a thin skim of ice and a dozen or so geese.
Donna
Good pic of the situation nanny!
Sally, Can you give links to your photo's? That would be easier for you till you can figure another way.
Hi Donna, Lucky you seeing Bald Eagles!
Clan, great shot of the eagle!
Nanny, great photos of your goldfinches! Good point on your "birds life"
Lily, great one of your hawk.
GP, nice photos of the osprey and wp!
Flowerjen, glad you're seeing a flicker.
Burn, you did a good job getting the hawk through the branches. Great photos.
Hack, I just love those brown headed Nuthatches! They're so colorful! Nice job with the towhee and robin collages.
Ruth, that's a large count on the deer. We just normally see about a dozen around here.
I think this is the largest amount of Purple Finches (or maybe they're House Finches) I've seen around my house all at once.
pelletory, you are so kind. I might get back with a link. But without cropping in closer I'm not up to my usual (tho amateur) standard!
duc, I think those would be house finches but thats a very nice picture, how thye're all lined up with slightly different poses. (Be sure to click and see the whole line up)
Duc, Love the sweet Junco and handsome Red-tailed Hawk! No glasses on for the finch. :-)
Duckmother, very pretty birds, but they all look so cold in that snow. I feel bad for the cardinal, but it looks like it's just fine without the head feathers.
Nanny, beautiful wps and that junco does look lonely.
I hope that everyone getting more and more snow will be safe and warm.
I thought that cardinal need a little knit cap too! LOL
Cool shot Margaret!
LOL Does anyone know how to knit? I was we could help him, he does look cold.
Some of his feathers will return in the spring but not many. He hangs out with us a lot. He has hidden under the table during rain and during todays snow. I don't know if they have a shorter life span...this little guy has been with us for almost 3 years.
He couldn't be in better hands.
;o) Thanks, Mags.
Thanks for starting the new thread sallyg! Nice photo's everyone!!
Lily, nice shot of the Red-shouldered Hawk! Have you seen your Red-headed WP's lately?
Linth, Wow, Awesome Cardinal shots! That first one is a blue-ribbon shot for sure!
Duc, nice Junco shots!! Really like your first one, that 7D captures the rain and bird nicely! I think those are House Finch's in your other photo. Really like your (dark- fase) R-t Hawk!
ClanCampbell, nice shot of the Bald Eagle over-head!
Nanny, nice shots of the Goldfinches!
Nice shots GP! Really hope your Red-Belly's decide to go back to the tree, maybe once things calm down from the tree trimming they will. They will definitely remember where they get their food.
Nice capture of the Northern Flicker flowerjen!
Burn, nice shots! Love the Black-caps! I recently changed the menu on the tray feeder to more black-oil sunflower seed's and I see the Chickadee's more often, although the Starling's still hit the tray feeder, they can't find what they want and move to the suet.
Hack, Nice shots and compilation!! I really hope I get to see my first Eastern Towhee this year.
Nice shots duckmother! That's one tough little Cardinal!
Nice shots Nanny! Storm is hitting here in the AM. Someone said with 55mph wind's! I sure hope not.
thebestmissy, nice shot! Like your home-made PB mix feeder!
Margaret, nice shot of the Wattle Bird! Eat alllll those Spider's! :)
I think I got everyone! lol... whew!
Glad I snapped a few photo's today because of the looming storm, beautiful day today though... rrr (yesterday) lol.
Start off with what I usually see in the feed area!

Missy, Love your little bald Cardinal.
Nanny, Good ones in storm!
Good shot with male Wattlebird with Spider!
Great shots Burd! Love the Starlings departing because of the hawk. Sweet Chickadee and others!
The snow has started here again. We have about 3 inches right now. It is suppsed to continue the rest of the day. Then this evening the winds are supposed to kick in with gust around40-45 MPH. DH will be staying up in Boone County again tonight while the Buddy and I enjoy the evening by ourselves.
A few Downy Woodpecker shots from the other day....
