When we were leaving after seeing Bo Diddley, we saw Jimmy Page going in to see the next show.
That's Entertainment!! Part 3
WoW! you've had many brushes with great ones. Nice pic.
I won two tickets to see Patti Labelle from that defunct jazz radio station. They took me to meet her. She was not very nice. I was a teenager and loved her voice but never bought any of her stuff after that.
Loved Lady Marmalade! All the guys did. ^_^
I bet you did!
Enjoyed Jumanji last night. Robin Williams is a good actor. Interesting that many comedians and comic actors are more successful at making the transition to dramatic roles than the opposite.
Jumanji was good!
Very!
Why did the 'variety show' format on tv die??? I loved it. Carol Burnett, and many others, were fantastic.
Idk, I loved Carol Burnett too. Donny and Marie. Flip Wilson, Smothers Brothers, Hee Haw, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Laugh In
I guess the only thing similar now is Saturday Night Live or MadTV.
too many corporate people got involved and took the fun out of them!!.. and people are too touchy for those things today.. can't make fun of people anymore.. someone will get offended even though it is comedy
I loved those too, especially Carol Burnett. I alsways got a kick out of Harvey Korman trying to keep a straight face with Tim Conway doing his thing.
Never watched SNL it's past my bedtime.
Loved carol Burnett and yes Harvey & Tim were the best!!
Yes, those two were hilarious! I liked all those you listed, Jen.
I think too many five and dime activists got into the act along with some 2 bit congressmen figuring they could increase their notoriety by becoming outspoken about racial and social issues. They effectively sterilized TV and put pressure on the networks using protests outside the studios and drumming up local newspaper support whenever a skit could be interpreted as offensive. Advertisers were afraid of negative feedback and pulled out whenever there was a stink. Then the networks went with the ‘old tried and true’ formula… brainless sex and violence, that didn’t seem to bother anyone! Lol!
Just saw a commerical for the smart mop, anyone see this? The guy mopped up a whole can of soda and then squeezes back into a glass while saying "in these tough times......." Well watch it for yourself

Ewwww! Pretty cool though. That guy is the king of pitech men now that Billy Mays is gone.
I was like ewwwww, he did NOT just say that.
Why didn't he drink it???
roftl
I can't believe he said that!! LOL
Anyone see Everyone's Hero? Cartoon about Babe Ruth's bat getting stolen. My son was cracking up the entire time. What a great movie for kids. Lots of stars voices William H Macy, Rob Reiner, Brian Dennehey, Whoopi Goldberg, Joe Torre
No. Sounds good.
Your boys will love it.
The Babe played an exhibition game in the nearby schoolyard. Hit a monster shot.
not sure it this should go in the dreams thread? - my wife brought me home the SI swim suit issue last night from her work - mine should be delivered on Thursday - one for upstairs and downstairs! :)
in case of emergency?
you never know when you will have spare time to browse - too many guy shots and i've only gone in a dozen pages - they have a cute model lingo translation section - any guesses on "shake and bake"?
nope - a combo of water in background, sand stuck to skin, with a tan.
They can hire me to be the sand remover.
or applier!
Yes - not picky here!
I must be getting old. Most people described in 'entertainment news' these days are complete strangers to me!
I KNOW, me too.
Drives me crazy when I hear people talking about a celebrity like they're best friends or something.
Young people seem to be more into that crap then when I was young.
Listening to Billie Holliday's Strange Fruit right now. I get shivers whenever I hear it. If you're not familiar, it refers to lynching.
Remember it well. It was played in the movie of her life "Lady Sings The Blues'. Her life was an incredible rags to riches story.
Was just thinking I like all those bio movies of musicians. Coal Miners Daughter, walk the line. The Benny Goodman Story was good too.Cadillac Records,etc....
Yes, I agree. Glenn Miller story too.
Yep, another good one. Alvin and the Chipmunks. Do you remember the Flinstones episode when Fred had a hit song?
