Countdown to spring! One garden photo per day(sort of)Part 9

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Mine blooms end of May into early June. The foliage looks nice all season and has a slight bluish cast if I remember correctly. They are tall so they make a nice background plant for shorter blooms.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Spring into summer, and i think i read if you cut back, you may get more blooms later. Don't hold me to that though!

I grew baptisia many years ago, but when it died, I never replaced it---duh! It's a good back-of-the-fence plant---and now there are some great colors. I loved the lily Nettie's Pride---I need to get the red lily beetle out of my gardens---too much rain last summer---every time I sprayed---rain. I picked off many, but just couldn't keep ahead---then I tried neem oil---I'll try anything, can't stand my garden without the lilies!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

OHHH Robindog I am lucky I guess I had redbeetles in 2008 and sprayed with Bayer Rose and Insect spray.
I was new to Daves and was cruising around and saw the Lily Forum and checked a thread on the beetle and some one there had used spray early in spring when lilies just emerge. She sprayed the ground around the plant as well as the plant, kept up a three week spray program and was spared the blasted things.
I used Bayer and Sevin Liquid in 2009 and was thank full there was very little damage. I dont think I had more than 4 beetles all summer.
I have big lily orders in for this year so the system better work again.

Thanks. The urge for spring is getting more serious with every day.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Farmers Almanac predicts 1 more big storm for this area starting on the 20 - 23 rd.
That should about do me in for "forever snow"

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The endless snow may turn me against white for a long time.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The good thing about a deepsnow storm is if there are three days of warm temps. It all melts.
This is the time of year for that phemenon

I am loving all these pics today. Great stuff everyone! I can do without any more winter at all. Go away snow, ice and cold. Bring on the warm breezes and fresh color and scents of spring.
My Valentine to all of you. Think spring!

Wow - I have robins outside!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

does that mean I will have spring first this year since I saw them last week?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We'll see!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Robins don't migrate for the winter, they seek out local thick brush. ☺

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We saw them all winter long and about three weeks ago a pair of Cardinals arrived. They look so lovely with snow in the background.
