st.george, NB(Zone 5a)

Just found this thread and can't resist adding the picture I took yesterday. my daughter Kelly arrived home for a visit for 2 weeks and my dog (Abby) likes her a lot. Don't realize how big the dog is until I see her with someone else.

Good Grief!

holy cow... is that a dog or a horse????

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OMG!! She looks just like my Bandit!!!!!! What kind of dog is she Growum???

st.george, NB(Zone 5a)

Her father was a pure bred Newf and her mother was a mix - lot of Chow and some kind of shepherd. She really is a good girl but big for me to handle sometimes. She is only 3 so still has a lot of puppy to her. She was picked out and raised by my husband and he passed away in Novemeber - he spoiled her terribly - thought she was the best thing and let her do a lot of things I didn't like too much.So her and I have had a lot of learning experiences but it has all been good so far. Wouldn't trade her for the world. I had a Great Dane that had cancer and had to be put down before we got Abby. The Great Dane was so different - say I used to have a ballerina now I have the marching band.

Wow that is one HUGE dog, very cute!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very cute! That is a BIG dog.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Looks so much like Bandit it makes my heart ache.....how much does she weigh? Bandit topped out at 130lbs.

Thomaston, CT

She looks like a Tibetan Mastiff, very pretty girl.

st.george, NB(Zone 5a)

Not sure what she weighs now - trip to the vet next week for shots I will find out for sure then. I figure she must be 130 my daughter thinks 140. Had a thunderstorm last week and as soon as I sat down she was up on my knee so she is a big baby. What kind of dog was Bandit??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

He was a mix, Norweigan Elkhound/Lab/Shepard and he made me "hold" him during Thunderstorms!!!!

Thomaston, CT

My elkhound was phobic about T-storms....she jumped through the screen door once, & ran to the neighbor's house....she hid under their sofa. Guess she didn't fit under ours!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well bad news is Jily went to the vet to get her teeth cleaned... and they pulled 12 teeth... the poor baby does not have front teeth anymore :(

good news is Lily is preggo!!!!... and not as far long as we thought... he said less than 40 days... normally they can see skeletons forming if they were after that time.. and he couldn't see any.. but did find an extra heart beat on the ultrasound!!!!! (so glad Jily is the only one with bad teeth... Lily has her dads teeth which are good!)

South Hamilton, MA

Dog food in liquid form of vitamins from now on?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great, Lily!!!

Poor Jily.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

poor Jily is so stoned from being under and pain meds... I feel bad

:(

took me a while to get her to relax and lay down... she was wobbling all over.. I felt like I was chasing around a drunk teenager... I gave her only a teaspoon of wet food and some chicken broth... she loves her food... I think once she heals she can have her dry again.. the side teeth .. she has enough to eat dry with... I am mad at myself for not keeping up with her cleanings.. but this is better than whatever kidney failure or other bad stuff that can happen with mouth infections

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Poor Jilly, I hope she's feeling better today.

Congrats on Lilly, she's going to look so cute with a belly!! LOL

South Hamilton, MA

I don't remember looking 'cute with a belly' while pregnant. Give dogs their due, carrying several pups isn't comfortable either.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I do realize that IrisMa, and meant no disrespect by it. I have helped deliver many a pups so I know how hard it can be. I also remember being cute with a belly at least once out of the five times I was pregnant. ^_^

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Poor Jily.....hugs to her and to you, Allison! And Congrats on the official word about Lily!!!

Thomaston, CT

It's hard to keep small dogs' teeth healthy....my 2 guys chew a lot, so no plaque....Robs just had a checkup yesterday....he did test positive for Lyme, but that's ongoing. Happy for the babies coming!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Check out this guard cat. http://www.break.com/index/cats-attack-babysitter.html

I would of had that cat by the scruff of his neck, shaking him like a bell.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Actually even though they are very small, an attacking house cat can be intimidating. Fairfield had a (house) cat under house arrest (LOL) for attacking the mailperson and neighbors a couple of years ago. They are tiny tigers in their own mind, you know.

Some domestic cats are territorial - thats nature.

Thomaston, CT

We had a mean one....her name was Calico, but she was an orange & brown tabby....she wouldn't let me turn the pages of my book....would grab my wrist & bite....she also bit ankles.....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Celeste she looks cute with her belly already!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

EWWWWWWW

Thomaston, CT

When my DH was in China 10 years ago, he said there were dog carcasses hanging in some of the butchers' shops....I wouldn't have eaten one thing that was not a fruit or veggie or grain there.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, poor girl.....she's had a tough life. Some pits are very loving dogs, but treated inhumanely.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

my moms town was in the news this week... about pit bulls... they are all over in her town... and some not so nice owners have them

http://www.news12.com/articleDetail.jsp?articleId=251474&position=1&news_type=news

I still can't believe they joked about the cat in the article... what an insult to the president it was named after

Thomaston, CT

They probably didn't know about President Garfield.
