Fashion trends you miss(or don't)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can't agree more, Thom! Girls' clothes are disgusting. They are making them 'hot' at five or six years old! Really gross.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah, it's nice to see you, Thom! You crack me up!! You're right about the words on butt thing. They had THONGS FOR FIVE YEAR OLDS?!!!! That's horrible. Congratulations to your sister on the birth of her 3rd child.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

There are going to be a huge bunch of mixed up females out there in about 12 years.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They're already there. These kids have mothers.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Well I, for one, am not buying my girls thongs and I toss them when I find them. Panty lines are OK, thongs are not! i figure the 19-year-old is old enough to buy her own clothes - although getting a job would be really lovely - but the 16 y o has NO business in a thong! Sorry for the rant ....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Toss the floss!!! ^_^

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I agree wholeheartedly! ICK, ICK, ICK!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh gosh, if I saw that I'd have a coronary. I does help to complain to their corporate headquarters though.

When I worked for JCP I was so ticked when we started carrying satin undies for the girls, I refused to buy them but they made it manditory since they ran them on sale, so I had a small table of them and wouldn't you know..they were selling like hot cakes, had to order more. I don't know what parents are thinking.
hmmm must be a local store thing, I love Old Navy , their selection on line is really cute.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes it does. They need to hear in large numbers. They respond to profit only.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Wholeheartedly agree!!! and it goes for any little girl shoes or sandals with more than a half inch of wedge. Have you seen that reality show about little girl beauty pagents? If not DON'T--you'll be ill.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I would be. The carnival queen in Rio this year was like five years old. How disgusting!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That is insane.

How about the 11 yr old that had a baby?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Kind of old.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

An 11 yr old had a baby? I didn't even know that was possible.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Crazy right??? They say somewhere in the Northeast, no other type of info. Other than the baby was healthy.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am speachless.Thats really saying something as I am known for gabb.
11 years old.?
Must have been painfull for her,the father should have known better, where was protection?where was the other choice?

Butt floss for kids???? GOOD GRIEF
11 year old with a baby, She aint even grown up yet. I swear this world is getting crazy and out of controll

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Getting?!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

gotten.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Disgusting.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, this may be the first time you and I are totally in agreement. it's a good thing you didn't have any girls. I thought it was lucky... sigh.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No argument here. I am very happy.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ha! With boys? I loved my girls until they turned into teenage monsters .... The littler one used to lie in bed with me saying "I'll NEVER behave like SHE does, I'll ALWAYS be nice and sweet and good." Yeah, right. BTW, #2 got her learner's permit yesterday - I'd stay off the roads, ha ha ha.

Thongs for kids?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the undies I have for Lily when she is in heat are not that fancy!!.. they look like grandma bloomers with pink flowers .. no matter which ones I try.. she gets them off after a while.. I tried to put pads in.. but she will rip them out.. and shred them up... not a pretty site ... she is so good.. I bought ones that have a mesh liner over the top of the pad.. to hold it there.. she got it out with the undies still on.. gave up on those and bought more so I don't have to wash them as much

This was one of the 3 am ABC world news now story I woke up to. I had to pinch myself to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing. Thongs for the ladies and cumberbuns for the men.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah that's out of hand

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

What's the purpose of thongs for dogs? makes no sense to me.

Anyone know where I can find socks for less than $6 a pair???? We don't wear shoes in the house and I'm real anal about having my socks match what I am wearing. I have a pair of socks that were my sister's when she was a teenager(so they have to be 40 years old) no holes and not worn at all....socks bought at Wally World last year have holes in them already...I hate wasting $.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks, but checked those already, nothing caught my eye.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Picky. ^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

A little.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Merino wool is highly recommended.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Not itchy?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not at all!!! I hate itch.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'll keep that in mind.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Get smartwool, Jen. Bamboo is nice too but it is still expensive. I am VERY fussy about my socks!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I agree. Socks have gotten too cheap and too expensive at the same time. You guys are getting me interested in the merino wool ones. How can they not be itchy? Where do I find some?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's the type of wool and the way it's blended. Sierra Trading Post always has a lot at good prices. I just ordered a few more pairs. They're having a sale.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

They are ALWAYS having some kind of sale on something - but when you compare to regular smartwool prices it's still good.

Harper, smartwool is a company that somehow figured out how to make washable merino wool that doesn't shrink and isn't itchy. It is still tempting to wool moths, so you do have to guard against those (we have every kind of household best imaginable - well, we do not have cockroaches or silverfish, but we do have wool and cereal moths and mice). I wear smartwool long underwear all winter and smartwool socks year-round.
