Nice,
My greenhouse is metal framed and 2-ply plastic walls. Does not hold the heat very well. Yours will hold the heat better. Great project. I love the pictures. I have been watching. You must be so excited. Mine went up because my husband didn't want to eat with the dirt and seedlings. I never had an issue. Have fun!
Willows Greenhouse
LOL mine complains that plants are trying to grab him as he walks by them.
I forgot this, Dean is going to put in lights and plugs and water to a sink. He can hook up to the faucet and outside plug on the side of the house. Another good reason to have it in this spot. OH, and a fan and ventilation.
I love all your brick walls.
The flower bed will look terrific as is next to the greenshed.
I love dutch doors - you don't see them too often. Don't know why. They so functional and really add character.
I'm sure I've already asked this, but where is Union, WA?
Hey, you know what? You can also buy small water heaters for greenhouses. I have one in fact, that never got hooked up -- can't remember what the power source was.
Union is on Hood Canal, half-way between Shelton and Belfair. I don't know what a water heater is? But I do have a very tiny electric heater that I use in my bathroom sometimes. It would probably do if it was freezing.
I just pulled out the owner's manual. The brand is Ariston & it is a "mini-tank electric water heater." So you can take a look a the concept online.
My thinking in purchasing it was that, you could work in a chilly greenhouse almost year round if you had access to a bit of warm water. It didn't cost TOO much but can't remember just what that would mean in real-time dollars.
Thanks, I'll look it up.
OK, I'm seeing $135 and up, which jibes with what I remember being $165 for the 4-gal. model.
That sounds reasonable. I'll ask Dean what he thinks. He might know about them.
You could put it under the workbench to keep your feet warm.

I like the setting and the GH Willow. I also liked Union, I passed through there to my escape to Toanoas (sp) peninsula.
Our greenhouse, which came with the property, is unheated. It came with 2 large trays of heat cables embedded in sand and covered. I start all my seeds on those trays.
I don't know that I would put heat in, even if I could at this point.
I don't even put my 'tender' plants in there. I put them between the hot tub and the house. I only have a few but they've done quite well in that spot. I'd like to get a lemon tree and try keeping it there during the winter.
This may be dumb but, have you guys been to Charlies Greenhouse supply in Mt. Vernon? They have lots of nice things for the greenhouse. They are an online greenhouse supply. Williow if this is news check it out. They have a retail space in Mt. Vernon but mostly mail order. If you want to heat or have a fan to remove extra heat you could look. They are nice peope. At the retail store in Mt. Vernon they have some set up to look at.
If you go there take some time to go over to Christianson's Nusery, 15806 Best RD. Mt Vernon
I find Charlie's online site more useful than their store, although I've only been there once and I forget what I was needing that they didn't have, so may have just been a missed connection. They were very nice.
And, yes, do go to Christianson's, those folks are really helpful and knowledgeable. I may be biased as this is my 'home-town' nursery I go to on a regular basis. Get a double whammy and time it during the daffodil or tulip season, it's right in the midst of the bulb fields.
you are right about the stock in the retail store. Online is better. I asked about that one time. What they do is order from a company then Charlie's sends to you. They do not sit on much stock. But the sample greenhouses are nice. Good idea about the bulb fields! I have lived here all my life and ever gone. My family just rolls thier eyes when I ask.
Oh, you should make a point to do so. My recommendation is midweek morning. The daffs of course come on first and they are pretty, but not as knock-out as the tulips. It's quite impressive to see a whole field of absolute red or pink. I used to go to the display gardens (back in the day when they were free) but don't bother anymore. Stay away from weekends, particularly during the actual festival, when the roads are crawling with people, police, and bicycles. The fields are about 15 minutes away for me, so I usually catch them a couple times each season (usually on my way to Christianson's). You can get some stunning photos with Mount Baker in the background. Funny how you often don't do the 'tourist' things in your own area, isn't it? For reasons I cannot now fathom, I never took either of my kids to Mount Rainier.
The store is fun if you're in the area but not worth a special trip. They don't stock everything in the store that the catalog has. I've phoned them before, asked them if they had a certain item in the store, driven the hour and twenty to get there, and then it turned out the girl didn't actually look to see if it was there and they didn't have it. Not a happy customer!
Christenson's Nursery is outstanding but very very pricey. But outstanding.
Don't think I will be going to Mt. Vernon for anything. It would take about two hours I think. Used to have a girlfriend in Bellingham and I went up there and spent the summers with her. Fun!
Willow - thank you for posting pictures of the progress. I am always amazed when an idea is conceived, expressed & brought to fruition. It's like waiting for someone to deliver their Baby!
Willow
Your project is going up fast. Before you know it you will be spending many happy hours in there. Love to see. Keep the pictures coming. You have a wonderful place there in Union.
Willow, Watching your greenshed go up is great fun, and it is developing so quickly! I can invision standing "inside" it now and being able to envision the end result. Way cool.....
Very cool, watching it move along toward completion. So envious here!
AWESOME!!!
Thank you all for your comments. Dean just called and said he won't be coming tomorrow. He has to go get some supplies and do some coordinating.
Ditto Jan. That is great design!
Harley and I have been planning a greenhouse, and had in mind a similar roof design with the asymmetrical sides to have a larger area of glass towards the south.

The 'glass' side faces SSW. That's the best I could do.
SSW should be fine. Getting light from 2 or more sides is just as important as the orientation.
Willow, your GH is going to be such a beautiful addition to your garden!
Willow the GH is looking amazing. How exciting!
Any updates today? I'm so looking forward to seeing the finished product. Wish I had a Dean up here!
Dean dropped by today and left his trailer here full of materials, but it was raining to much to work outside and he had some stuff to do at home. Anticipation!
Hope for good weather tomorrow!
It's getting nasty here as well. But your GH is coming along and soon you will be enjoying it! Just in time for spring!
Oh she's cute!
