I got a venius fly trap and I am wondering should I pluck the black (dead) parts off?

Yes,you can trim off any dead (blackend) leaves anytime.Is this a new plant to you?VFT require dormancy.Mine have been in the fridge since November.They make terrible house plants.They only really thrive outside in sunlight.Only water with distilled water or rain water.Edge

turned out there where small white bugs in that plant. I returned it. I might get another one. I'll put it in my lizard terrarium
