I need some information on replanting roses. What type of soil I should use rose food, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Replanting Roses
Hi Amelia,
Are you talking about repotting them, or moving them to a different site?
To move roses to a different site, it is best done during spring or fall. I usually cut the canes back by 1/3 and dig as wide as possible around the base of the rose. If you can give it a good 12" of space between the rose and your spade that will help spare the roots, for an average size rose. Once moved, keep it moist for at least 3 or 4 weeks. It will pout and lose leaves. Just keep it moist. Mulch around the rose about 2 feet in all directions, a good 2" layer of mulch.
DO NOT fertilize it during this time period. If the new site is extremely sunny and the weather gets hot you might want to construct it a temporary shade for the hottest part of the day. After 3 or 4 weeks, the rose will perk up.
I don't use chemical food preparations. The best food for your roses is compost. You can make your own by saving your fruit and vegetable trimmings, coffee grounds, and egg shells. Also, well rotted manure works wonders. Give her something organic! Hopefully, you have mixed some compost and manure into your new planting site, mixing it thoroughly in with the existing soil. That is the key to a healthy rose. GOOD DIRT.
There is a composting forum somewhere here on Daves......check it out....
