When is the best time to take lavender cuttings in Zone 6? Is it better before they flower or after? I have some that are older and getting woody so I would like to preserve them. Thanks
When to take lavender cuttings?
You want to take them for propagation?
Yes, I'm interested in propagating them for future plantings. Thanks
Typically( now I don't know specifically about lavender) but with other plants you cut them while actively growing and take the tender new shoots.
I also found this

They say not to do it while flowering.
Thanks for the info & link. I wasn't sure if spring or fall was best but it seems like spring would be better.
I just wanted to let you know that your lavender may self propagate. I have had lavandula angustifolia‘hidcote’,for four years, and for the last three years every spring, new plants have popped up round the original plant. I have had so many baby plants that I started giving them away.
Patsotr: Lucky you!
