Finally found this thread which is more hopeful! Again, if there is anything we can do to help let us know.
Rumors about changes at Dave's Garden
Absolutely Dave, let us know if we can be of any assistance. We are behind you 1000%
Yep!
Thanks for updating us, Dave! That does sound much more hopeful. The move to NM did turn out to be a good thing for DG, I think, so hopefully this will be also. I like your positive tone. :-)
I too have no idea how we could have Dave's Garden without the man who put the D in DG!
Send the new company a link to this thread, and they'll have a clue about the loyal community here. :-)
Oh Dave, I was so sad to hear this news earlier so I'm very thankful that I was directed to this thread. I hope everything turns out just the way you want it to and that you know we've all got your back.
Kell said it the best....
Lets face it, Dave's Garden would not be Dave's Garden without you!
*Snif*....does this mean that I don't get to carry a placard???
REJOYCING here!! We WILL NOT do with out Dave in our garden!!
Jo
Holding my breath here. At least I have until October to make up my mind.
There just is no other place like this.
You all are right: No Dave, no Dave's Garden.
Dave, you're our glue - you hold us together, our poultice - to sooth our ruffled feelings, our anti-depressant - that one is obvious, our mediator, our go to guy, our fix-it-upper, our leader, the face on this whole website.
I'll bet you all can come up with even more descriptions of what Dave is for us. No one can replace him.
That's a good one, victorgardner, Conan's Garden. Just read the news item posted by 2nd chance. It sounds like NameMedia is suffering from the same economic downturn as every one else, only perhaps worse. They are just bailing water and selling off whatever they can. Let us hope that whoever has bought DG will not kill the goose that laid the golden egg. This all reminds me of the movie "Up in the Air".
You are all way too nice. :-)
I appreciate the kind words, I really do. Thank you all. This has been a crazy time.
I sent a representative of the buying company a link to this thread, and he'll be coming along to post here in this thread.
Dave, thanks for the update and the hope that things will remain the same...or better. Though this is such a perfect community, I don't see how "they" could improve it. I'm with everyone else...No Dave=No Dave's Garden.
Let me add my praise and appreciation of you and the Dave's Team to all the previous postings.
We'll support and follow you and as stated, the new owners need to see this thread.
Barbara
So glad to know you'll be with DG, Dave. Conan's Garden just doesn't work for me!
If we can do more to support you just let us know.
Thanks Dave for all this information, you know now that we're all right beside you cheering you on!
I'm overjoyed to read this.
And since the new owners will be reading this:
Count me in with the folks that if there is no Dave at DG, I will not renew my membership.
I just wish I had known this before I baked a whole batch of cookies and ate them :-) It was stress, really it was.
I'm so thankful and grateful to hear this news.

I am with the rest No Dave No DG! Now waiting to see what they post.
Wow. A few hours away from the computer and look at what happens. I sure hope that the later more positive news holds to be true. I'm another who would not likely continue if Dave were pushed out.
Ann
Hey there everyone. Here's my first post on DG's and unfortunately it is not in the context I would have preferred it. :(
I'm Michael and am a General Manager at Internet Brands, the company that recently purchased Dave's Garden. Unfortunately in the last week there were some errors in communications and both Dave and I ended up on different, but equally wrong pages.
The very good news is that today we realized it and have had a nice chance to start to figure out how to get back on the same page.
We at Internet Brands are well aware that Dave is...Dave and that Dave's Garden is here because of all the fantastic work that he has done and the community that he has built. This thread is a perfect representation of that. As someone who loves to get dirty in the garden (I've got a ton to learn from all of you), I've known about Dave's Garden for years and have always admired it.
Also, as a company that owns and operates more community websites than any other, we are very cognizant of how important it is to foster and respect the culture that makes sites like this so valuable (to the community) and successful. We always work with communities and have every intention of working with all of you (and Dave) to continue to make this such a great place..
Typically when I introduce Internet Brands for the first time to a community I talk about the resources we have and perhaps some of the more immediate plans we have to grow and improve the site, but I'll leave that for another time. At this time I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I've seen all your great posts here in support of Dave and that I apologize for the panic caused by our misunderstanding.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to getting to know you better.
Michael
Glad to see they found a role for you Dave!
Hey at least it isn't Spike's Garden ........
Oh no if it is "I'm going to Disney World!".....
Ric
Thank you!
Paws up in solidarity with you, Dave!

Just about ruined my day...went out to dinner with a sad face, came back home and read the above posts and now I'm smiling again. If there's anything to do to help out...just put out the word...
Michael, thank you very much for your message.
We are not willing to let go of Dave or of the garden he built for us.
Well, it took a few years to build, Dave, but if you want to start over...it looks as though there are many, many, many of us who will go with you and help you do that....just let us know.
I haven't been around much lately but I have to agree without Dave there is no DG. I feel certain the new owners will realize that as well.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out, Michael. We are anxious to hear of your plans.
Thanks for your post, Miguel.
Good to hear the news! Without you there would be no DG. I would not renew either if you
were gone.
Yes thanks Micheal for the news and for the introduction.

Thanks for the post. But will still be waiting to see how things actually go.
I start my day here at Dave's every morning. I would really hate to have to change that habit! But I am more than willing to see if something new and exciting is waiting around the corner.
Michael, thanks for coming on and introducing yourself. Will be anxious to here what your plans are.
Whew...Life may be okay after all!
Thank you Michael for acknowledging us.
Any necessary changes seem to be easy enough to do. Just give Dave and each member of his team a raise and let them continue to do what they do so admirable well, just the way they've been successfully doing it! Simple...It ain't broke, we don't want it fixed.
I have been around here a LONG time even though I do not post much. This site will not be the same without Dave and I am happy to hear there is hope things will not change too much.
Welcome Michael and we hope you continue this garden in the good taste it was started and grown. It is my window to the world.
Connie
Here are a couple of websites that explain what Internet Brands is:
Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Brands
Internet Brands website: http://www.internetbrands.com/ib
Hopefully they will continue to be as receptive to the DG community's needs as Dave, Trish, Terry, Melody, etc. and all the Ubers have been in the past, and that they KEEP these people connected to DG.
i would have jumped out of the nearest window when i first heard this news but my windows are ground level. you get the idea though. i wouldn't stay even if they named the new garden after me! lol i hate even the sound of a "new garden". solidarity!!! united we stand, divided we fall.
Hello, Michael. It's good that you are getting to know Dave's Garden... stick around! Your company has purchased the very best gardening website that exists, and it was built by Dave (and it grows like a beautiful garden because of him and all of us). Just like a garden that needs constant tending by a loving hand, it could easily die without that constant love and care. If you doubt the passion that we have for our founder, check out some of the forums... everyone is checking their subscription renewal dates...
Brenda
Thanks Dave for the update. You have set many a mind to rest. You lead us through the last transition and we will be looking for you to lead us through this one as well. We have a real close knit community here and losing you would be a huge disruption. I know the new company wants a smooth transition and a successful site. You are the key to both those goals. Holly
Michael Welcome to DG it is a wonderful place to make friends and learn and grow.
