weege, I would like it, please......
So. Calif. Spring RU 2010 - PLANTS
....it's yours.
Thank you....
:-)
I can probably bring a couple brug cuttings if anyone is interested? For sure I can bring them for Geneveive (double white) and Velvet Rose (single pink). If my New Orleans Lady starts growing more next month, I might be able to bring that one too. Also, maybe Lemon Meringue.
karen
Can I get dibs on a Velvet Rose Brug? I have the perfect place, and so far I only have a white one that blooms. Late in the season but it bloomed!
I have a baby I got at last year's RU at Kathleen's but it hasn't bloomed yet so I don't know what color it is. I can't even remember who gave it to me. I feel badly about not remembering who gave it to me.
Oops, best quit gabbing and start grabbing! LOL!

Karen After many, many years of want a brug, we got our first at the UCR plant sale last spring. It is about to "birth" it's first flower. Not sure what variety it is, lost the tag. Pretty sure it's white. I would to have a cutting of another color. Can't wait to talk brugs with you while I'm eating your potato salad.
Sylvia
O.K. I am going to commit to something else to share. Forsythia, I have a large bush and been reading up on how to start the cuttings. I'll probably have at least 6.
Sylvia
I'll try for more than one off the Velvet Rose :-) I (finally) planted it in the garden at my rental house last summer, and it's doing real well- I'm redoing the backyard here, since it was super ugly before, but had good potential ;-) I planted Geneveive back there too, but she isn't quite as big. New Orleans Lady (peach double) is in the front yard, but is pretty small. Although, this year, I've armed myself with spray & grow.
You know, come to think of it, I forgot when I originally posted, that I also planted a Charles Grimaldi (yellow) and a Shooting Star in the front courtyard too, so I can probably bring cuttings of those as well!
LOL, Dillansnana - that sounds great. Brugs and potato salad go well together! My "specialty" flower is the tropical hibiscus and I have over 250 in pots. I've also got about the same amount of daylilies, most in pots as well...You might have guessed, yes, I'm a plant addict...
karen
Wow Karen It would make me tired just to count all those pots. On second thought I have counted over 125 mini daffidils I removed from about a 2 foot planter my sis-in-law gave me before she moved out of state. Decided to plant them in the ground last year and was quite amazed at how they multiplied. They are now beginning to flower. So happy, happy I put in the ground.
Sylvia
Oh goody, can we talk about tropical Hibiscus too! I love the 3 hibiscus I have, one being an edible variety. I plucked the seed pods on those and may have seed to share.
Gosh, I got to find more time. Tomorrow I need to report the Backyard Bird Count totals, go shopping, and I really should list all the seeds I need to find homes for.
After the chores and shopping, I should have some "free" time. LOL!
I'm thinking about the forsythia, Sylvia, but want to research it first.
WIB,
SW
SW, you maybe got the brug cutting from robcorreia....
Kathleen, the tomato plants are in recovery right now after the transplant. They were volunteers from some plants I had at the school last year. They should be perked up in a couple of weeks and I'll know which ones are healthy. Wouldn't want to give you a sickly one.
Thanks, DP - I kill enough plants on my own!
Good for you DP, you rescued them! I have photos of them in their former home. LOL!

Anyone looking for heirloom vegetable seeds can go here:
amadorflowerfarm.com
It's in Plymouth, Ca.
Don't know how good the prices or selections are, but I just found this when looking at their daylilies.
It'll be on their home page.
Aw, gee...and why would you be looking at daylilies?
Because I'm ordering some for a job I'm doing...and plus, the freebies you get when ordering will go to my place !
Thought so.....
So what are you getting?
Karen, would you , please put me on your list for some of your daylilies and brug cutting? I can not get enough of both of them. Thanks.
As Marie, said, it looks like it's going to be a big event. We got our tickets , so we are all set.
Rodicap, are there any particular colors or cultivars you are looking for?
Karen,
I do not have any preferences. I love them all. My favorite though is the old fashion yellow with wonderful fragrance.
Yo Sylvia,
If those forsythia haven't all been spoken for can I put dibs on at least one, and maybe two?
Thanks, sweetie!

You got it Jules. My pleasure.
I have about 4 or 5 nice pieces of Euphorbia tirucalli 'Rosea' / Sticks of fire
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/58092/
I can get a few more if needed but I need to know soon.
I'd love to have one if there is availability :-)
SoCal.......I recently received some "cuttings" of this plant. What's the best way to start it?
Sylvia
Karen, got you down.
Sylvia, just let the cut end harden off for a few days then just stick into some well draining soil. Don't overwater it....it will DIE!! lol
Thanks SoCal...............That was my plan, however since I'm kinda a newby to serious gardening I appreciate your confirmation!
Sylvia
SoCal,
I'd like to try one, if there are any left. I've got great soil for it and I love succulents. I noticed palmbob, took most of the photos of them. I sure wish he'd come out for a visit.
Since DP isn't here to speak up for himself, he might like to try one too, for the succulent garden he is starting at the school he works at.

Gotcha down for one Jules....I still have plenty left.
I have a couple of baby easter lily cactus if anyone wants one.
I'd like to try them, Marie! I need to plant something prickly under a window to keep the burglars out!
Good thought KC. I planted a rose bush to keep kids IN, by their window. Put a stop to ES#1 disappearing in the middle of the night. It does help. : - )

SW
Donna, if you have plenty of those Euphorbia, I'd love to have a piece. Thanks.
Randy
See, I knew he'd want one! LOL!
Are you back home DP? How did the visit with your Mom go? Needless to say, you were missed.
WIB,
SW
Ok I will bring a baby of this and a of another I have.
Thanks, Marie!
Just got back yesterday. I spent two weeks away from home and I don't know who was more happy to see me walk through the door, me or the cat. DS has been keeping things in order here for me. It gave him a little time out of the middle of 'city life' to come out here and bring the girls with him to play. I was able to spend 5 days with my mom. It was great.
There isn't much blooming where I went, so my picture taking consisted mostly of family. However I did take a lot of pictures of water towers. It's something that folks who live in the East and South probably take for granted. In the West, mostly, we have water tanks on the nearest hill, but still on the ground. There are a few places you'll find them on 'stilts' out here but not often. What's happening there is that the old style tanks are slowly, but surely, going away and being replaced by things that resemble space ships. I'll post pictures of them on a new thread here on the CA gardening forum. It'll probably be a day or so before I get to it, but keep your eye out for "Southern Water Towers".
Randy
