Need help with design and plant idea

Nashville, TN

Hi fellow gardeners,
I want to change the existing raised veggie bed to become a flower bed. The area is the corner behind the patio, L-Shape with 3x12 and 3x20 ft. I need to cover the fence, not all, with vine like clematis. In the corner I will plant pear tree.which I can prune to keep the high not more than 8 ft. I do not know what other plants should I use for this area. I also want to cover the wood of the bed. The area gets sun from 9 am to 3 pm, facing south at one side and west another side. After 3 pm, its get a little partial shade from garage Thank you for your help.

I wouldn't just go with clemtis to cover the fence. Maybe get some climbing roses and then mix in the clemitis. You can train the roses or let them just go all over the fence. The bed doesn't look that deep so maybe mix a few small shrubs like a English Boxwood or smaller type of grass for winter looks. Throw in some wave pentunas for splashes of color and then they will also grow over the wood of the bed. But keep in mind anything you have that covers the wood limits the ability to trim along it. I also planted strawberries and smaller daylilies under my roses for ground cover. But you may want to just put down alot of chips to limit the weed pulling.

Thanks Allanme,
I like the idea of climbing roses and recently looked at David Austin roses website. How many boxwood do you think I need to plant? They are kind of expensive but I like it because of evergreen. LOL. I can move some of my daylily I guess. I am also thinking something cascade evergreen that might cover a bit of the raised bed wall, but not ivy.

Go with Antuiqe Rose Emporium for the roses. They are the best. I would space the boxwoods evenly apart probably 6 ft or greater becuase you will have roses in between. I would also get someting tall and evergreen to put in the corner. Strart your spaceing from there. Put some reblooming iris in behind your dalilies. Then you can have some early color followed by summer long color and folage.
