I made a strawberry planter...... Details inside :)

I was interested in a hanging strawberry planter. I shopped for them online and finally decided to make one. This is made with a plastic coffee can at the bottom with holes for drainage, and wrapped in the plastic from a dog food bag. It was assembled/joined with a hot glue gun. Then I planted it with earth stars (cryptanthus). I know it sounds strange to plant a dog food bag, but I like how it turned out so thought I would share. Let me know if you've tried any recycling wonders. Thanks. The biggest problem with this planter is that it is very heavy.

it looks very nice :) have u thought about covering the white plastic with some moss or maybe glue some pieces of bark on it? just to make it look more natural ? :)

That sounds great. I wondered about using a light misting of spray paint (before planting of course), but I really like the sound of the natural "cover". Wouldn't it be neat to make it look like a log? Hmmm, scratching head and thinking :).

That is brilliant! Great idea and I think you've inspired the rest of us as well!

I think you did a wonderful job. The plants look happy and that is what matters,
doesn't it??

Hi, RRM. Yeah, they still look happy. I can mist without keeping the too soil wet :). It is still very heavy, groan.

Have you seen the link on DG where a fella has some cactus planted in denium jeans??
That's pretty neat too. What you got it it-regular potting soil or orchid soil??
