Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I went to the NY Botanical Garden Show last week and that really helped with the winter bloom deprivation for sure. I ran out of batteries and didn't have my good camera, so this is not great. But lots of color!

nice Patti!!!!

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Just bought seeds - morning glory, scarlet runner bean and cardinal climber, herbs such as basil, thyme and oregano. Husband caved in and bought the 4in1 pack grape/blackberry/blueberry/raspberry combo pack

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

I meant to write the quad pack is growing inside my sunroom, dont know when it would be a good time to plant; trying to quarantine my tropical hibiscus with aphids from all the other tenants in that room

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Beautiful pictures from the NY Botanical Garden Show. Thanks for posting them, just loved the Jade Vine.

Drool is right over those orchids! Paeonie, I would think you can plant the fruits right now. Pixie, nice blooms....I have a violet, that's about it.

Robin,
Are you talking about planting these berries outside now. Yey. I was worried that I am growing an aphid farm onto everything from my hibiscus. sigh; organic husband only lets me use neem oil for the aphids and I have already tried two rounds of that, washed the plants and used soap water as well

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very nice Celeste & Robin

Thomaston, CT

Thanks. Yes, Peonie, I think you can plant them outside now.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks will do.

I use Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10 for doing my collages. They make it very easy, and I can save with any file name I want. If you might want to change the collage later you will have to save a a png file, but you can also save as a jpg file for posting online. You can move the photos around on the background, resize and more. Very user friendly, too.

Beautiful blooms at the orchid show, Patti!

Nice violet from you, Marilyn, and great cactus and hibiscus blooms, Celeste!

Rama, be patient with the organic controls. They often take more time than the dangerous pesticides.

Karen

I do not use commercial sprays and usually use the oil/ soap and they would be gone but this is just stubborn infestation this year, so much so that I had to give a haircut for my gardenias, jasmines and the hibiscus. Thanks Karen, are your day lilies emerging yet?
Has anyone ever had success with germinating rosemary and lavender from seeds?
Those orchids are simply beautiful.
Rama

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Rama I grew rosemary from seed last year and was stilling picking it out of the garden in Dec.!

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Pixie, did you have to stratify your seeds in the freezer first or use a heat mat? I am thinking of using shop lights?
Thanks,
Rama

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

just a heat mat...no freezer.

I hacked up an EE yesterday. Dont even know why I kept it in the house. I did a bunch of lavender 3 years ago. Bought the seeds and germinated them in soil. I ended up with 100+ plants and threw them over the bank.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Whats an EE schickenlady?

Thomaston, CT

Elephant Ears, Rama....I grew some last year in a pot, & wintered the pot in the garage....if the warm weather comes, I'll put it outside, & hope it made it through the winter.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i dig mine up every year - think it is too early to bring them out?

Thomaston, CT

You can always bring the pots back in if it gets cold...our neighbors in FL had a row of them along side their house...they looked fine until the temp went below 30.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

When is a good time to bring the cannas out? I have them in pots in the garage and some in a cardboard box. I usually keep them in my sunroom but they dont go thru dormancy in that room, so this time they went to the garage.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I doubt they will do anything until the nights are warmer, like average temps 50 and above, Same for caladiums.

The EE's are tropical, not sure on caladiums but I think so. They love warmth so they wont even like it out right now. Dont forget this is still March. OK April is right around the corner, we could still have a Frost...............

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We arent frost free until the end of May.If EE's or Caladiums go in too soon they will stay cold and wet and you run the risk of rotting.

Thomaston, CT

Yep, that's why I have the EEs in a pot...haven't planted cannas in awhile..they usually start blooming just before frost, so I see the bloom like for 2-3 days.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

very cute. Thanks.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

AWWW that did brighten my day.

Thomaston, CT
