Flowering plants or shrubs for northside of the house.

Hi. I am having trouble finding flowering plants/shrubs that do well on the northside of my house. We have a long brick flower bed between our 1 story house and a concrete patio that gets mostly shade during the day and a few hours of hot afternoon sun. Right now I just have my jasmine vine which seems to like it there. Everything else I have pulled up and potted. I'm in California zone 9. Any suggestions? Thanks....
