I was given a Schefflera from a good friend, its a beautiful tree. I was wondering because it has three bases, so it looks like their are three trees in one pot. Would it be possible to seperate them into their own pots and if so how would I do so. The trees are about 4' tall and about 2' wide, very healthy looking. What should I do?
Schefflera Question
Tam: A lot of times at the nurseries, Scheff's (like many other plants) are started three or more to a pot, so you are probably correct in that yours might be three separate plants. You can up-pot it and loosen the soil from the base to see if it is all one plant or three separate. If you get three separate trunks with their own root system you can pot them separately into their own containers.
Tam, my only advice is to wait til spring before you transplant it.
