Gypsy BW.... Rollin On The Riv-vah

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Ok think I have somewhat of a visual now.

The bedroom door( goes into the hall) you are keeping?

The bathroom door (leads where?) you are covering up.
And the closet is history and will be part of your bedroom closet, which will become a dressing room.

Right?

(Zone 5b)

Hi Venice, don't let that thing fall on you!
I like the brick with the black shutters.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

My visual perception is not so good, so DH says. LOL

Better at hands on, destruction..

Off to friends now.
Catch up later

(Zone 5b)

yes JJ...I'm not only going to KEEP my bedroom door, I'm going to get one that LOCKS ;)
that bathroom door is between my bedroom door and the bathroom, it's the middle door in the picture of all the doors. That is being sheetrocked. Oh wait I gotta show you a pic of what happened one day when I ran to the grocery store...

Venice, that's an amazing icicle:}.I also admire your shutters and brickwork.
Lynnie,I'm trying really hard to keep up with your alteration descriptions:}
Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good day.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good afternoon all. Just a quick break....up to my elbows in boxes of "who knows what"? Tons of books...literally it feels like, and toys and movies and games...all to be sorted through. DH convinced me to get rid of my old china cabinet...now I have to figure out what to do with everything that was in it. More boxes.....sigh.

(Zone 5b)

I just broke my memory card for the camera pulling it in & out for all the pictures...I'll have to practice my innocent look for when hubby comes home...I'd take a picture of it but...well...you know.
UPDATE: my closet is empty! let the games begin! Gonna ditch those wire racks *grin* NO MORE WIRE RACKS!
Hi Joy! My camera has a panoramic setting, but I'd have to get the kids to do it for me , and well, my memory card...you know...
Did you get all your mum's shopping done, Joy?

(Zone 5b)

my MIL somehow got somebody's old china in my car...not sure how that happened (DH's grandmother's china) I gave it to a neighbor. Her husband was bummed.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I was using the cabinet to store and display my teapots and fiesta ware type pottery and old crockery and ancient glass mixing bowls and bakeware.

I wish it was actually dinnerware. That i could easily part with....grin

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Joy & Lynnie, I live in an apartment complex and that icicle photo is part of it!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, are you going to replace your china cabinet? That seems like a good place not only to store but also to display all of your treasures. Why would you just stick them away in a box?

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Lynnie, yes,I got all Mum's shopping, there wasn't too much. We'll do her main weekly grocery shop on Friday, when we do ours.I was just fetching a few things parents were running short of.Though there's not a great depth of snow here,it's frozen,so very slippery.Roads are ok,but pavements aren't.
Sorry to hear about your memory card.
Does "bummed " mean angry ?

(Zone 5b)

do you have any open shelves, Moon?

Venice I recognized it from one of your other pictures, quite a while ago (I think it was your compost pic?) it looks very nice.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Venice,it does have attractive coloured brickwork.I also agree about Moon's ornaments, they should be on display, not packed up in boxes

(Zone 5b)

no, sorry, it means he was pretty disappointed that I got it in his door before he could stop her

bummed definition bummed (bumd) adjective: Slang: depressed, upset, distressed, annoyed, etc.:

forgot what it means in the UK....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I live in a huge apartment complex where all the buildings are the same. I think there are 2,400 people who live here!

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Well,I don't think it really exists as a saying here, but "bum" is a slang word for bottom...as in the part of us that we sit on.....like behind

Dronfield, United Kingdom

That's a large complex,Venice, does it stand in garden type grounds ?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

There are basically 3 main areas that the buildings surround, small lake, large lake and tennis courts, no gardens. Everyone has a balcony or a concrete patio with a strip of garden bed and wood fence around it. Believe it or not, my very tiny patio garden is one of the largest and the garden is only barely 100 sq. ft. total.

Do you girls remember Mike Myers doing a sketch on SIL many years ago? He was in a tub with someone and lots of soap bubbles. He acted like a little kid with an English accent and every few words he said - bum! (Joy's kind)

(Zone 5b)

we say I was bummed, or I was bummin', or I'll be bummed if...
I'll be BUMMED if my Japanese maple doesn't make it through the winter!

(Zone 5b)

haha I missed that one Venice, must have been funny!
I'm bummed that I missed it *grin*

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Maybe JJ will remember it!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

He was a cheeky monkey, Venice...I think it was a take-off on the character Simon...a series of stories by a British children's author. The stories were animated and shown on Captain Kangaroo....had a theme song...Hello my name is Simon...seems he liked to draw things

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't remember watching Captain Kangaroo. But yes, that is the one, cheeky monkey, whatever that means!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

A cheeky monkey is a smart aleck...a wise guy.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Moon, I needed the translation!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Too welcome, Venice. Also, to be cheeky is to be sassy....usually applies to a child.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

I understand what it means now, thanks. It's funny that there's so many differences in our language, yet really we speak the same one:},I like that though,it makes things interesting.
Venice,the description of where you live sounds very attractive.It's good when apartments come with a balcony or patio,there's somewhere for outdoor plants.The lakes sound good too.I'm trying to imagine 100sq feet,it sounds quite big actually.Alot of the new houses being built over here now,have very small gardens,think we're running out of building space:}
I never saw the sketch you mention,but "bum's" not really rude,just slang,would't shock anyone if you said it in public:}
I'm off to watch TV in a min,don't know yet if there's anything i'll want to watch.DH's in London on a work trip,so he wont be in charge of the remote control for once:}
Have a good evening,everyone,take care
Joy

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You have a nice evening too Joy. Here bummed comes from the hippy slang, bummer (meaning something that brings you down or is depressing or disappointing). DH having control of the remote can be a bummer....grin

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

100 sq. ft. would be a garden 10 feet by 10 feet total. It is divided into 3 strips, one on each side and one in the front surrounded by the wood fence.

Food question!

I have some Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon that is dated November 30, 2009. I have had it open for quite a while. It smells ok. Do you think it is ok?

(Zone 5b)

haha I watched Capt Kangaroo...liked Mr Greenjeans

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Moon,just before I go,I never realised the saying you "Cheeky Monkey" is so English,but,I suppose it is.It's a very harmless sort of saying though,almost like teasing someone for being a bit naughty,like Monkeys can be,I guess :}

(Zone 5b)

NO!
:)
Venice I know you don't want to waste anything, and you were sick and didn't get to eat all that lovely foos, but I believe that should be eaten in two weeks.

(Zone 5b)

or cheeky gypsies

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Venice ,thanks for explaining size of garden,I understand now.My trouble is sorting out feet from metres, sorry.
Right,goodnight now everyone,again:}

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lynnie, and why did I think you might say 'no!' It smells ok. It is only 1 1/2 months past that date.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I remember Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans. I vaguely remember Simon.
It's Mike Myers that has me baffled?

Lynn the TV is a problem? All mine are on those stands like in the hospital..hanging on wall.
Maybe a nice flatscreen would be better.

Better save those wire racks...never know when you'll need them. LOL

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Venice.
Won't tell her how long my bacon is in the refrigerator open before it gets ate.
Rule of thumb if it smells good and not slimey or dried up it's fine. LOL
Of course I feed it to DH before I eat it.....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ok, JJ, what is your bacon dated and how long have you had it open?

(Zone 5b)

JJ Venice has had hers open for "quite a while." What, like 6 weeks?
JJ I'll ship those wire racks to ya if you want *grin*
