Ring-necked Ducks with a Wood Duck. (upper part of pic)
Daily Pics Vol. 273
Claud... beautiful doves!
Gardenpom... I love the buntings! I wish we had them! So colorful!
Thank you Rose, At least they turned out. LOL!!! I have to check my settings.
Gardenpom, I'm in love the painted buntings. :)
Thanks, Rose and claudcat. The Buntings have been the highlight of this nasty winter. The only good thing about most of my shrubs getting killed back is that it will be easier to see the birds.
Wow, tons of great pics. It is supposed to be real cold tonight, 22 degrees - well, thats cold to this ole boy. The high tomorrow is 42, maybe I'll have some birds. I sat outside for a little while this afternoon and saw lots of House Sparrows, some White-throated Sparrows, several Cardinals, and one, maybe two, pine warblers.
It was real overcast, so I can't brag about the quality of the pics I took.
Here's one of the warblers.

Off in the distance I spotted this guy on the ground where I had scattered some seed. The area in the upper left of the pic is ice. It hasn't thawed in days. As a matter of fact, I used my 4x4 Honda ATV to re-fill my feeders - the ice is so thick the ATV doesn't even crunch it. For you northerners, that is no big deal, but for southerner like me, it is.

But the adult male and female did come up to the deck in the midst of the heaviest snow and they sat perched near the feeder for more than 5 minutes, looking out into the snow. Every few seconds they would twist their heads to flip the snow out of their faces. The blur you see on the right is the female.
Great shots everyone!
A local said that the larger ducks shown here were Red Heads, but they look like Canvasbacks to me....What say you Resin?
Definitely Canvasbacks! Classic long pointed bills.

What a joy to see one of those!
Nice shots all!! I want a Pileated! Been taking pictures just haven't gone through them, it been snowing last few days, and like Dave said hard to focus and get clear shots.
Same thing here...hard to get a good shot!
I love seeing all the Woodpeckers everyone is getting...we saw the Pileated today as we were finally able to get out and walk the dogs. DH is turning into a bird watcher of sorts and wants to get some "real" suet for them!! We also have a Hairy Woodpecker that has been hanging around for a few days. It's fun to watch him exploring all the different food available. DH says he is like a mad dog in a meat house...LOL!
Dave...those shots of the cold Bluebirds are heartwarming!
The sun is supposed to come out today...whippee!!
Thanks Resin.......the shape and the color of the bill made me think they were Canvasbacks.
