I haven't gotten any pictures to post in a while but I just love to check this site daily to see everyones captures. I was checking the weather this morning and found this picture of sparrows that someone in NY posted that I found to be quite funny. Here is the link to it...

Nanny, I'm glad you're enjoying that sapsucker too. Hope you and Wild Rose can get more photos of these pretty birds.

Mrs. Ed, your Red-bellied wp with that corn cob is fantastic! Wow. Now I'm sorry I bought the bag of cobs that were cut in half. So far the only birds here eating the corn are the crows. You've given me hope though. Congrats on the junco and your feeder looks great with all the birds.

Burd, love your beautiful Robins and your sparrow is so pretty. Hope you could hear the eagles screeching as they flew by you. Great duck pictures too! Looks like you had a great time.

Missy, that's quite a photo of the birds. I've never seen anything quite like it.

This Brewers Blackbird was really posing nicely for me as I looked out at all the thick fog.

This chubby little California Quail was puffing up for the females around him. These birds really blend into their surroundings with all the colors.

I put a bowl of cat food out on the front porch to feed Meese the outside kitty because I never know when he might show up. But now the starlings have found it and are eating his food! Very annoying to say the least....I worry about that kitty!

Best of Luck on the corn Duc, besides the woodpecker, the Bluejays and Cardinals eat them too. And of course, these chubbies, who apparently are into artistic eating.

This Bewick's Wren has been around for a couple of weeks. Hope it stays.

Finches. Cold here about 10 degrees at mid-morning. Birds are active.

Nice shot of the quail, Duc. I had medical appointments yesterday so I took the 7D so I could play with it while I waited. It really has some neat features. Do you have software that lets you read the exif info? I noticed that the 7D allows you to enter your name in the camera and it adds it to the exif on every shot.

Yes, Dave, I do have that exif info set up. I didn't notice we could add our name but I'll get that added to mine-thanks. Your photos are just so sharp and clear. You've convinced me that the 100-400 lens in my next "must have" for sure.

Can anybody tell me what bird this is? I thought it was an immature Northern Flicker, but now that the adult ones are here I'm not sure.

We have had a new crow in the area and mine are not happy about it!!

They have been carrying on something awful....all the racket!

Yes, it is just animal fat. We get it at the meat counter, but it's harder to come by. I was told they sell a lot during deer season. The Pileated woodpeckers love it.

Goldfinch galore, Red and Rose. I have some, but some days they are more active then others.
Rose1656, I've only seen the Sapsucker a few time here in spring. It was my first time seeing them. Great capture.
Would like to get, some of those Titmouse, Nanny very nice shot of it. Send some my way, please, pretty please. Mrs Ed didn't know you had artist in the family, and RBWP is some nice, on that corn.

These are poor quality pics taken at a very long distance under horrible light conditions (it started raining a few minutes after I snapped these, but since the Ring-necked Duck is a new bird for me I decided to go ahead and post them.
