Fruit salad tree

Does anyone know if there really is a fruit salad tree that grows like 5 different types of fruit?It sounds like a silly question to even ask.I have seen ads to buy,but also have read it is a hoax.

You can buy trees where they grafted branches of a few different fruit trees together onto one tree--common ones I've seen have been various combos of peach, plum, nectarine, etc. Watch out where you buy it from though--while the trees can be real it's one of those gimmicky sort of things that some of the less reputable nurseries like to sell so there are definitely some less than legitimate ones out there. If you're getting it at a local nursery you're probably fine, but if you're buying it online somewhere make sure you look up the vendor in the Garden Watchdog before you order anything to make sure you're not going to get ripped off. http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/
