This is in Southern California. I believe the trees are birches - they have white bark and hanging green reproductive parts (flowers?) Every time I walk by one of these planted in the neighborhood, there's a huge crowd of bees buzzing around. I'm just curious what the bees are drawn to.
Why do bees buzz constantly around the birch trees?
The bees are probably attracted to the catkins (reproductive parts) for pollen/nectar. I would imagine even in CA there is not a whole lot of stuff in bloom right now.
