Daily Pics Vol. 272

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Here is a link to the previous thread..lots of good birding there http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1066382/ .

We are like so much of the country...in a deep freeze with snow! One good thing about it is that our feathered friends have been spending lots of time at the feeders. It snowed all day yesterday and had to take pics through the window but will share some of my favorites.

The Purple Finches have been abundant this year and this handsome male posed on the shepherds hook. When I saw it on my computer screen I noticed that he had a snowflake on his cheek.

This Cardinal had a few snowflakes on the top of his head.

The only reason I got this shot of the White-breasted Nuthatch is something startled the birds and they flew away...but the Nuthatch froze.

This feeder is always popular with all the birds.

Oh Rose, that poor little Nuthatch. They are so sweet. I love the shot of the Purple Finch with his ear-ring.

Nice shots, Missy and Red.

I haven't had anything to post of late, but managed a shot of a New Holland Honeyeater at the osprey nest a few days ago.

Great photos in the last thread everyone!!

Rose, you picked some beauties for the start here. That's a great one of the Purple Finch. We have both the red and the purple here and it's so hard to be sure which one I'm looking at, but when I look at your photo, there's no doubt. Love that nuthatch picture-wow.

good pix everyone. Everyone have really gotten better with their photography since I first joined.

My birds are having trouble with a pair of Cooper's Hawks that want to hang out in one of my oak trees. The birds really flock in when the hawks fly off. Here is one of the hawks. Not a really good pic as the hawk was up in the tree and backlit by the sky.

Frank, your photos are always a joy to see. Sorry about the hawks sticking close to your house. That wren is beautiful and a little more rust colored than our Bewick's. Great shot of the House Finch.

TY Duc. Picking up a camera is all I have been able to do the last three days after my little car wreck. The seat belt possible saved my life but it sure did bruise my chest. But it really only hurts when I cough or try to pick up anything. I learned to not cut across a parking lot. Especially with the sun in my eyes. Those light poles are pretty solid. I never saw it.

Marlton, NJ

Hope your feeling better soon Frank! Nice pics! Love the Red-shouldered Hawk!

Duc, That second Junco pic is awesome! I love those Oregon form Junco's.

Took some pics through the window today. Here is a male Northern Cardinal.
