Hurray - Bill's Caladium Classified Ad is up
Sent mine in.
He really does have the best quality available. Even our own Dave buys from Bill.
Lovely container!
I cant wait.
I still have to order.
I put together two of these pots for my parents house. Some of the new ones I ordered this year will go up to their home. They live in an older development with sidewalks and close neighbors. There are always people out walking and they get such nice comments someone actually came and knocked on the door to ask what those beautiful plants were. LOL
I love how the "action -reaction" goes there.
Its such a simple thing to us and means so much to others.
Your parents probably meet people they wouldnt otherwise.
I'd bet your parents look forward to the new caladiums growing there again, Holly. Good job!
Nobody else in the neighbor hood has anything else like them.
I think I am going to make a hanging basket of them for their front porch. this year. I ordered some of the Strap leaf Caladiums especially for that. I think the RedFrill will look very nice maybe add a few Gingerland to the pot that would stay with the red, green and white combo that looks so nice for their home. This is the other big pot that sits on the other side of my front walkway. I picked up these two big pots at an end of season sale 60% off. They look so much nicer that the mismatched pots I used the year before.
Lovely combo.
I remember your caladiums from last year when we were all a twitter about Bills co-op.
I am trying Miss Muffet for the first time this year.Borders mostly.
I like Miss Muffet, It is a really fun Caladium I did pots for my daughters house 2 years ago using them. Can't remember for sure what else I put in that pot but I think it may have been red flash. I don't have any pictures of them. That was the first year I bought from Bill. I save my bulbs from year to year but I still couldn't help getting more this year. He has some really pretty new varieties and I never know if my saved bulbs are viable.
Here is one of the pots that sits on my front step.
gorgeous both of you.
The Miss Muffets are pinker than I expected.
Pirl, I love that combo! The shape of the begonia leaves fits in so perfectly with the caladiums. Yes, I am running out of places to put my pots. Last year I started planting them in the ground at both my parent's house and my son's house. Mom has a real shady front yard. The Caladiums look great with her hosta and impatiens. They have a small pond by the front entrance with a dogwood and good sized hedge of clipped yew. That bed makes a nice shady spot for them to grow and they really light up the area.
My son Josh bought a house a couple of years ago and I gave him landscaping as a house warming. He has huge trees in the back yard and I planted them in a ring around one of the trees last summer. It really looked good. I'd like to do a couple of hanging pots for his back porch. He works so many hours in the summer and has a summer cottage as well that I have been hesitant to make up hanging pots for him. He did install an outside faucet towards the end of the summer after a couple of discussions with him about the fact the the new plantings I bought and installed needed more water than a couple of pitchers of water poured on them once a week. LOL
Funny!
I love hanging pots and wish I had more low limbs to hang them from but I don't. I could buy long chains and have our tree guy place the chains for me but I don't want to smash my head into them either as I walk through the big garden in the back.
ge - my Miss Muffet are in morning sun, then dappled shade, and do not have much pink. I will still order them again. They lasted longer than potted ones.
they are sweet,glad i ordered 2 bags
ge Those are Fl Sweethearts in my pic. I might have confused you. With the comment on liking Miss Muffet and then posting pic of Fl Sweetheart.
I am expecting to get the big arbor up this spring. You may remember I talked about it on another thread last year. It will go over the driveway and hold the wisteria. Due to Ric's hand injury we never did get it built. I was thinking that I could hang a few shade loving pots from that.
really nice,sorry about hand injury.
pirl I posted a link to your caladium & begonia basket. We have a begonia thread going on the MA Forum and I just so love the look of that basket that I wanted them to see it. Holly
Thanks, Holly. That is my favorite basket and so easy to keep in bloom.
Bill now has Caladiums for your Landscapes. let's stop over and say hi when you're there.
Thanks for the headsup Polly
Thanks for the info. I'll be checking that out. Some place else for me to post my Caladium pics. Yeah.
This summer - I got this Caladium from Bill. It was not on my order list, and I have lost the name.
The thread we chatted about our bulbs orders for 2011 has been deleted, and I have no idea which one this is...
I do recall it started with a "P" and I think it was 2 words... i was just on Bills site and I can not find it listed.
Anyone know which one this is?
Thanks in advance...
Terese
Terese - could it be Postman Joyner?
that wasn't the name on the bag... once i see the name, I'll know.
it has like a "Pic" or maybe an "ole"
I wish I had it written down somewhere, and i'm sure it was in that thread from earlier this year.
i found it....

I loved Lance Whorton. My guess is it is smaller the "carolyn"
this one was great in pots.
I'm going to try and save the bulbs for next season... we shall see how that goes.
I just got done pulling my caladium bulbs for winter storage.
