DAILY PICS VOL. 271
Thanks for the new thread Pelle...I sure envy all those shorebirds..really nice shots!
The little Eastern Phoebe is still here and was perched on a fishing pole in the garage. Had the camera wide open but could only get a shutter speed of 1/25sec. The little bird finally left shortly after I got this shot. I was relieved to know it was still allright but the weather forecast is calling for freezing temps for the next week. Sure hope the little one survives.
From the last thread-
Red, great shot of the hawk. I'm jealous, you got to see Kestrels! Pictures?
Burn, that's a sweet little goldfinch.
Rose, I'm going to paint one of my Scrub Jays to look like your Blue Jay-he's beautiful!
Nice start Pelle, the Sanpiper and terns sure are pretty!
Rose, hope your cute little find a warm spot in that cold weather.
I think this is a Cooper's Hawk. I was out taking photos of hundreds (honest!) of Robins and Cedar Waxwings eating berries and this hawk flew past me and landed in a nearby tree. The other birds disappeared in the blink of an eye and didn't return for at least 15 minutes after he'd gone.
Sanderling in the first pic.
Yep, Cooper's up above.
Resin
Nice start pelle...love to see more shore birds!
Duc, that hawk is STUNNING!!!!
Oops and I know it's a Sanderling but still typed the wrong word, lol.
duc, Those are such nice shots! I love the Quail and your Coopers Hawk!
LOL, burn!
Stunning shots Duc...that Hawk is certainly a beauty. (camera envy)
Burn...LOL..that is one nice looking brush pile!!
Love the Orange-crowned Warbler Missy!
Nice pics burn!
Nice shots everyone!! Pelle thanks for starting the new thread! Nice shots of the Sanderling and the F. Terns.
Duc, it sure look's like that Cooper's was posing for you, beautiful shot's, love the eye's.
Congrats on the Orange-crowned Warbler Missy!! I'm still learning Id's on those Warbler's its tough sometimes.
Dellrose love your brushpile, do cars honk when they go by? lol j/k
Burn nice shots of the Dove's, I,m still waiting for a Dove to show up.
It was cold today 17F, and the patio window's wanted to frost over if I was out there too long (body heat) so in between going in and out of the patio and the sun peaking out I was able to get a few shots.
Elvis may cause me to buy a 300mm lens, but I may be moving in the spring, so probably not.
Thanks for the new thread Pelle...I sure envy all those shorebirds..really nice shots!

I see you had the ISO cranked up. BTW, I have a 40D, also. Did you know that you can get an ISO of 3200 - to do so, you have to access one of the Custom Functions.

Nice start to the new thread, Pelle.
Oh boy, duc, you're going to be force to be reckoned with, with the 7D. Fantastic shots of the hawk and love that quail.
Well done for locating Rose's brush pile, Burn. I think I see her at the top left waving to you.
Burd, your comment on your last photo really did have me LOL.
Rose, I sure hope your little Phoebe is going to be OK.
From a few days ago. Deep in the twigs and leaves, above two Laughing Turtledoves is a Sacred Kingfisher
pelletory - Thanks for the 1st new thread for the new year. I liked the look of the Sanderling.
ducbucln - nice capture of the Cooper's
thebestmissy - that's a nice assortment of birds in one pic.
burn_2007 - I have plenty of Mourning Doves, but haven't seen a Goldfinch in a while.
Burd_Fotos - your camera stopped the action of the flying Chickadee nicely. No wonder, shutter speed of 1/4000 s. I'm gonna start using the blazing speeds also. Here's the EXIF for the shot.

Great shots everyone!
No outdoor photography here. Our wind chill's will be hitting - 2 !!!
The Saline River has gotten out of its banks, again, and covered the roadway just west of our home. I walked down to the water and surprised a Great Blue Heron and a Belted Kingfisher w/fish
The Heron is trying to hide but it is close to the yellow reflector and the Kingfisher is in the tree just to the right of the Heron
