New Year's Eve eve

New Year's dinner here....Pork Roast, Baked Sweet potatoes, Gravy, Black-eyed Peas, corn bread Lightly steamed cabbage and Carmelized onions with Cheese sauce, cabbage apple salad with Parmesan Raspberry-walnut vinagrette and dark Chocolate Doberge for dessert.

Heard they may not be able to drop the Dick Clark Ball as they are supposed to have torential rains.

Bummer.

I just strained my neck ~ whatcha having Moon? Yowza! That sounds good!

Ummmm that sounds yummy Moon, will head straight home after sleep over at Lynnies. I'm invited to neighbors for dinner, the traditional black eyed peas, collard greens, and hog jowls are the menu.

I'm warning you guys ahead of time, when that lobster hits the table I'll disappear suddenly *grin* you might see only greasy buttery fingerprints on the computer.

Can't handle the jowls, but I do love greens lightly sauted' in with bacon.

I don't like none of it but supposed to be bad luck if ya don't eat it , guess I'm @*&& out of luck next year lol.

Can't handle boiled greens....we do a lot of raw greens in salads though.

Yea Smiley wouldn't be New Years without the ball drop, Wonder if Dick Clark is gonna do it this year, he had a hard time last year with his health. I will miss that man, another icon we all love.

They are not bad Moon with a little bacon grease when cooking them and then add some vinegar when ready to eat.

We do them with bacon, but no water....no boilingcuz that releases the oxalaic acid that causes them to be bitter , to me anyway

Sounds like a wilted salad, Flowers. We used to make a spinach salad with a warm bacon dressing, thin sliced red onions and mandarine oranges. Very tasty.

my mom used to do that boiled block of spinach when I was little. It was one of the few things I would eat. She would put some butter & salt on it for me.

My mouth waters at the memory of it, yet makes me shudder to think of eating it now. Saute my greens, please.

Yeah, that was a good salad. I used to cook in a private club (sounds exclusive, but it wasn't) and that was one of our salads. Don't know if I have the recipe for the dressing. I'll have to look for it.
